Normani Kordei is a singer originally from Atlanta, Georgia who is a member of the girl group, Fifth Harmony.
Her sweet and humble personality adds to why she has remained such a successful performer in recent years. Kordei has been singing and dancing since the age of four and although she has had an early start in the field of music, she doesn’t allow that to steal away from her ability to remain humble in the midst of all the excitement and success. Kontrol truly enjoyed discovering more about the life of the young singer and was excited to find out that she will be appearing on the hit TV series, ‘Dancing With the Stars.’
“Dancing with the Stars has been an incredible experience. Honestly I feel like I have grown in the last three weeks. I really have the best partner and he has been really encouraging me, and allowing me to see the beauty in me and what I have to offer. Growing up, I didn’t really believe in myself the most, especially since I started out at such a young age. Having people judge you in every little thing you do, even as a teenager and experiencing life for itself can be tough. He’s helping me to realize that it’s okay to be vulnerable, like don’t keep it all to yourself, so I really thank him for that, and I can’t wait to spend the rest of the season with him. The cast has really become a family and learning all of the dances and genres has really been cool.”
The young singer has been very busy working between the show and on Fifth Harmony’s Global tour. “We just wrapped up our Asian tour, it was about a three week run and it was really amazing. We’re really grateful and blessed to be able to travel to these places that we would have never had the opportunity to see if it weren’t for each other. It’s just really great to be able to thank our fans in person because we talk to them a lot over social media. We have a real personal connection with them and we made a bunch of memories!”
Being part of such an amazing group comes with having the knowledge to know what it takes to remain successful. Normani shared with us what she felt has helped in making Fifth Harmony so successful thus far. “I just believe that everything happens for a reason, and I really do give credit to God and all the glory for five girls from different walks of life
coming together. It’s just been a journey and it’s cool to see the ups and downs that we have been through because it’s just part of our story. Whether it be good or bad, it just makes up all the parts that Fifth Harmony is.”
. You can catch the rest of Normani’s amazing interview in Kontrol Magazine’s 8th Anniversary Issue, Women In Music, in Barnes & Noble nationwide this summer!

Billboard Songwriter/Producer James A. Worthy is one of the hardest working producers in the industry. Accompanying his musical flexibility, James has credits with various artists including Grammy Nominated Musicians & Award Winners such as: Dr. Dre, B Angie B, Arrested Development, Men At Large, T-Pain, Future, Bobby Valentino, and many more. James has been working hard this year from making appearances in movies like “Love By Chance,” and on hit reality shows, all while helping to produce sensational music for other artists.
Now he is taking things to even higher levels by teaming up with another artist, International Nova.
The New Rap & R&B Group called “Kings X2” has just recently hit the #10 spot on the Billboard Hot Singles Chart with their debut single “Wine For Me.” The song is quickly climbing into the radio markets and is projected to hit the #1 spot this month. These two talented artists coming together has definitely been creating a lot of buzz! The group started following the production of new music by International Nova’s remake of Big Pun’s, “Don’t Want To Be A Player.” Worthy performed on the single and from there the two continued to make their own records, shortly after forming the group, known as “King X2”.
What these two are doing is quite phenomenal with their combination of Hip-Hop and R&B. The Hip-Hop industry has not really seen many successful male duos team up since legendary rap duos like OutKast, Ying Yang Twins, Method Man & Redman, and more to name a few since the early 2000s.
When asked what makes the group stand out in the Hip Hop industry today? Worthy replied, “There are very few duos in Hip Hop today, but what makes us stand out is because we incorporate all genres within melody and arrangements. On top of me being a producer, I know what sounds right.”
James Worthy recently opened up yesterday during a radio interview with Starrdom100 Blog Radio Show, about other projects to expect from him this year and more with the new group collaboration. Be sure to check out the interview on Blog Talk Radio TODAY!
Be on the lookout for more hot music from the group this year and their album release which will be announced soon.
We’ve been hearing the song all season and the video is finally here! TV personality and rapper Chanel West Coast is serving swagged out sexy in the release of her single, “New Bae,” featuring Safaree.
According to VH1, the listening party may not have gone as smoothly as they would have liked it to on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood but the video for “New Bae” certainly turned out to be pretty dope. The Pat Clark-directed visual starts with Chanel in a chaotic relationship with her old flame. Following an argument and a shove, her past fling throws a vase full of roses on the ground in anger.
Yet in the snap of a finger, she finds herself a new bae at her front door, just waiting to make out. Chanel is not dealing with any man who plays games. I think all the ladies can relate when it’s time to move on and find you a new bae!

R&B singer Sammie who has been on the music scene since 1999, known for his chart topping billboard hit singles such as, “I Like It”, “Crazy Things I Do”, “Come With Me”, and more, opened up on the tour during their performance recently in Mobile, Alabama on September 17th at the Soul Kitchen. The show was hot, but what can you expect when you bring two powerful R&B vocalists on to a stage in one building!
The show kicked off at 8:00 pm and shortly after, Sammie hit the stage performing some of his hit singles, as well as songs from his latest album. His new album, “Coming of Age,” dropped on September 15th, and was perfect timing for the tour. I had a moment to speak to Sammie backstage and he mentioned that he had been knowing Tank for a while and that’s how he ended up being part of his tour. Sammie also told me that his new album had been in the works for a while now and of course just listening to it, you can tell he took time to master it. If you all have not got your copy of it yet then you definitely should.
Meanwhile, ladies of course went wild during Sammie’s performance! When he took off his shirt and started performing one of his prior mix-tape singles, “Wetter”, the atmosphere in the room got really steamy!
Sammie recently shared a clip from his performance on Instagram.
Tank will be releasing his eighth studio album SAVAGEthis fall. The 11-track LP features appearances by Candice Boyd, J. Valentine, Ludacris, and labelmate Trey Songzas well as production from Da Internz, Harmony Samuels, and Cardiak. The lead single “When We” is a sensual “how to” that will lead listeners to a night of high powered unadulterated passion. Currently available for purchase(Click Here), “When We” is also the #1 Most Added song on the UAC charts playing in various cities including Los Angeles, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Little Rock as well as SiriusXM.
The album will be sold via all digital retailers as well as in stores.
Tank put on an amazing performance as well! He lit up the stage with some of his hit singles like, “Please Don’t Go”, “Maybe I Deserve” along with more songs from his soon to release album. Tank also showed major love to those celebrating their birthday’s by blowing out cash into the crowd! Let’s also add that when his shirt came off to reveal those ab’s, I’m sure many probably forgot what he was singing. Check out the clip below of his performance shared recently on his Instagram.
DMX is making some positive progress. X’s lawyer stated that the rapper’s cleaned up so much in rehab, he’s “back to being human again.”
We spoke with Murray Richman who told us X has already packed on 40 lbs. Murray says he had been nothing but skin and bones before starting treatment in late August at a New England facility.
The program is almost complete, but Murray wants X to stay another 30 days since he’s been responding so well … they’re letting him take day trips with a friend to a nearby town. We broke the story … a judge signed off on rehab after the rapper said his house arrest for tax evasionwasn’t helping him improve. Murray says they’ll tackle the court case once DMX has successfully finished treatment. He’s also not ruling out a tour in the future.
This is incredible news because it’s always difficult seeing anyone struggle with an addiction and tumble downwards. So many love to speak down on a person when they are going through something but it’s good to know that he is improving for the better. It would be nice to see DMX back on track with his music and personal life.
“I’ve learned that fear limits you and your vision. It serves as blinders to what may be just a few steps down the road for you. The journey is valuable, but believing in your talents, your abilities, and your self-worth can empower you to walk down an even brighter path. Transforming fear into freedom.”- Soledad O’Brien.
Imagine a journey of pain, struggle, fear, humility and faith. Sammie’s new album takes us down a sensual path of his life through a combination of heartfelt vocal’s and pulsating escapades. To say that he is making a return to R&B is an understatement. Sammie has been creating and releasing music under his own label, Star Camp Music as an independent artist, for a while now.
Despite some shaky moments in his career, Sammie has remained solid in an industry that can either make you or break you as an artist. With every journey comes the strongest tests of faith, and “Coming of Age”depicts the life of a young boy evolving into a man through love and life experiences.
Through his music on the new album, we evolve with him. In 2006 when Sammie returned to the scene with his single, “Come With Me”, the world was drawn back towards the Sammie we had missed and grew to love. Now in 2017, we are not only “coming with him” but coming into agewith him.
His growth and journey through life and music is phenomenal!
The first track on the album titled, “COA” showcases the most emotional but heartfelt display of love and change. Sammie sings, “What if I told you I changed…would you want me back?”. The song reaches out into your soul to explain the coming of growth and a plea to allow another opportunity.
How many ladies would open your heart back up to a man who displays growth and change not only in words but through actions? Listening to this song is a reflection of just how powerful Sammie is with his vocals and creativity! He has the gift to transition words into a visual image within your mind, and that within itself is an art form that vocalists strive to obtain.
The entire album is amazing!
Evolution is beautiful when you see an artist survive some of the toughest parts of his career. Yet to know the struggle is to love the growth, and we definitely see growth in him. The fans, to include myself who kept following are beyond excited for him with the much deserved recognition for his music this year. For those who know, back in 2009 Sammie went through a rough period with previous management and more, so to be at this height in his music career as an independent artist is nothing short of a blessing.
My favorite track among many on the album is, “Be Alone”and even though I’m sure women all over find it hard to believe Sammie could be alone, the track speaks volumes. A very attractive, charming man in the entertainment industry who can sing like Sammie with no auto-tune is captivating. Yet it comes with a lot of stress and curiosity as to whether the ladies are into you or just into your fame. So despite being able to easily get girls, he expresses that he’s tired of the same stuff, and the fear of possibly being alone because of it all. With growth comes the knowledge that a man needs more than just pretty women parading after him, but also a stable and loyal woman who can wither the storm with him. A woman who understands his status and yet seeks to add and not take from his light.
While Sammie often states that he is not trying to be the “Prince of R&B” but merely a savior to the love for R&B music that has faded over the years, many who are fans are just happy that he remained himself through everything that was meant to break him.
Sometimes while trying to save others…we save ourselves and that’s the start of something amazing.
In the midst of creating music, Sammie is not only bringing us on his life journey vocally but visually as well. A documentary of his story is set to release soon.
So if you haven’t got your copy of his new album then my question to you is, What are you waiting for?
With over 77 Million views on YouTube, Cardi B’s single, Bodak Yellow has made it to number 3 on the Billboard Charts! Cardi B stole the attention of fans and radio stations over the summer when she dropped this hit! The single however is by no means her introduction into the world! Cardi B been putting in work with her music for years and was quick to let social media know that to in a recent video on Instagram.
According to New York Times, a few years ago, she became an a force on Instagram for her frank sexual talk and her comically acerbic wit, and her casually wise and ground-level relatable videos became part of the app’s lingua franca. That earned her a spot on the reliably raucous reality series “Love & HipHop: New York,” though it was clear from the beginning that her personality was far too grand for that show’s microdramas. With encouragement from one of her managers, she took up rapping, and has released a pair of mixtapes that helped to mold her. “Bodak Yellow” is so savage and anyone who listens to it can feel that Cardi B vibe that makes you just want to show off to all your haters and let it be known that you running things! The beat is just hot!
The song has rose to No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 in only its seventh week of release!
No female rapper has moved as quickly from street hit to chart topper as quick as Cardi B has. Trevor Anderson, a chart manager at Billboard focused on R&B and hip-hop, said, “We haven’t seen a song from someone brand new go up the charts this quick since Meghan Trainor,” noting that was typically the preserve of more established stars like Justin Bieber or Rihanna. That it happened “without a meme, without a dance, it makes it that much weirder,” he added.
This month, she released a Spanish remix of “Bodak Yellow” featuring the Dominican-American rapper Messiah, one of the key figures in the Latin trap movement. A Spanish-language version of American hip-hop has been gaining popularity over the last couple of years, but it might be “Bodak Yellow” that gives it its breakout moment. Cardi B shared a clip of her singing the song in spanish recently during a radio interview.
