Fizz is most popular for being a member of one of the hottest R&B boy bands of the late 90s to early 2000s, known as B2K. He is also currently part of the hit reality TV series, Love & Hip Hop: Hollywood. The artist has been busy these days and besides working on music and raising his adorable son, Kamron, with ex-girlfriend Moniece Slaughter, he has written a new book, No Excuses: Being The Father My Son Deserves, and Starrdom100 got word that he will be starring in a new film!
Earlier this year, Fizz sat down in his home in California for an exclusive interview with writer and producer Tanisha D. Davis of Starrdom100 to discuss his book and give details about his reason for writing the book.
The film is titled, ‘Out Of Bounds’and is produced by Comedian/Actor Brandon Scanavich. The film will also be under the direction of well known Actor Marc John Jefferies, who has appeared in a host of movies to include, Losing Isaiah, Get Rich Or Die Tryin, and recently Nerve.
The movie is about a high school senior basketball player by the name of Travis Elliot (Lil Fizz) who has hopes of one day playing college basketball and making it to the pro’s. However, circumstances reroute his plans, and he is no longer chasing a dream but running from a harsh reality! The film’s cast includes, Brandon Scanavich, Lil Fizz,Shalonda “SJ” Johnson and Bobby Humphrey Jr.
The film is set to release in the Summer of 2018 with filming beginning on January 22, 2018 in Memphis, TN. They are currently accepting submissions for roles and extras in the film. For interest, simply submit your head-shot to email@example.com.
This is going to be incredible to see Fizz in a leading role and he makes the perfect person for this role because he plays basketball in his spare time and is a huge supporter of his son who also plays basketball. Fizz last starred in the movie, ‘You Got Served’ back in 2004. On top of making his move on to the set for the film, word is that some B2K fans may be excited to discover that the group could be making a come back for another album! Last month, Fizz shared on his Instagram a hint to the other members, and a source told us that the group is currently waiting on just one more member to get on board for a possible reunion.
There’s a new film in the works that’s about to stir up some emotions next year, and it has an amazing cast, so it’s definitely going to be what I love to call a “must see”!
Actor/Comedian Brandon Scanavichwill be starring in and producing a new film along beside Love & Hip Hop Hollywood’s cast ‘Lil Fizz’and ActorMarc John Jefferieswho is best known for his roles in movies such as, ‘Losing Isaiah’, ‘Get Rich or Die Tryin’ and recently, ‘Nerve’. The film titled, ‘OUT OF BOUNDS’, is about a high school senior basketball player by the name of Travis Elliot (Lil Fizz) who has hopes of one day playing college basketball and making it to the pro’s. However, circumstances reroute his plans, and he is no longer chasing a dream but running from a harsh reality!
Tanisha D. Davisof Starrdom100had the pleasure of speaking with Brandon Scanavich about the production of the film. When asked what led to the idea for the film, Scanavich stated,
“The idea came to me during a pickup game while I was at my church gymnasium. We actually turned the ball over and lost the game because a teammate ended up stepping out of bounds. It was just so amazing to me at that moment how you could be so close to victory, and how it could all change by crossing a small line. Same thing with life, you can be so close to the place you desire and one small step in the wrong direction could change your entire life!”
Of course a great movie needs an amazing cast and some amazing producers to capture viewers. We were happy to discover that Actor Marc John Jefferies would be directing the film. Scanavich gave us some insight as to how they came into working together for the film.
“Me and Marc John have been friends for some time now, we’ve worked on a few projects from the acting standpoint and he has taught me so much about dealing with this industry. When I started writing ‘OUT OF BOUNDS’, I’d say about ten pages into the script, I knew I wanted him to direct. I called him up one day while he was out in Miami shooting, and I said “Yo MJJ, I got a script”, and he replied “Let’s Do It” and it was on from there.”
Scanavich added that movie lovers will be able to relate to the film because it makes you really think about your life and the choices we make.
“Choices, Why do we make them? The film teaches you why its so important to make the right ones and how making the bad ones can effect you and the people around you!” – Scanavich
I think we all know from experience that one bad choice can lead to a host of problems.
Scanavich states that this is his first film, and even though he has done several Indie Projects, Short Films and more, none compare to this magnitude of a film!
After teaming up with Starrdom100’s writer and producer Tanisha D. Davisand S.D. Greenof TMG Firm in New York, Scanavich landed ‘Lil Fizz’ as the leading star of the film! Many know Fizz from his appearance on multiple seasons of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood and as a member of the R&B group B2K. Fizz has also starred in ‘You Got Served’(2004) and recently released a new book, ‘No Excuses: Being The Father My Son Deserves’. Scanavich shared with us why he saw Fizz as the perfect match for the role.
“I saw Something in Fizz from the jump, his image, his character and the fact that he is a natural ball player just put the icing on the cake for me, and I couldn’t have had a better person for the job.”
The film, ‘OUT OF BOUNDS’ is scheduled to release the Summer of 2018 and we are looking forward to seeing what Brandon Scanavich and Marc John Jefferies have cooked up for us!

“I really make my son my priority, so any free time I get aside from whatever he needs is when I put the time into my music” (Fizz)
The greatest gift a father can give to his son is a book about his love for raising him. Fizz is more than just a music performer and definitely more than just a regular guy on a Reality Show. Fizz is a single father trying to do what’s best for his son while building a solid foundation for him to rise up on. To be able to speak with Fizz as he shared some positive aspects behind writing his book was truly inspiring. Fizz shared information that could help a lot of single fathers out there who are trying to be that role model to their sons. This book is truly going to shine some light on the hidden places that real fathers such as Fizz deal with and how they can grow beyond it all, while maintaining a successful career.
Fizz’s new book is titled ‘No Excuses: Being the Father My Son Deserves’. The book is co-written by Fizz and National Best Selling Author Brittani Williams who also wrote ‘Daddy’s Little Girl’ and the ‘Black Diamond Saga’.
Fizz took a moment to share some information pertaining to his book with Kontrol. We recently had an interview and was mesmerized by the beautiful display of pride and love he takes in being a father to his son. He is presenting more than just a book, he is also giving life changing information to his fans!
Fizz shared with us some very profound information behind his idea for putting out his book and also highlighted some facts about what led to him to feeling the need to help other single fathers out there.
“It all started first with the show Love & Hip Hop Hollywood showing how I am as a father and from there that’s where I went. People were always complimenting me on my fatherhood and how good of a father they thought I was and how I was able to manage or balance my career and fatherhood at the same time. I felt it was a good platform for me to reach out to the younger fathers. There are up and coming fathers that are not in a relationship anymore and are now single parents. I’m also speaking to anybody in my situation as well. I really wanted to give some advice on how they can better themselves while being a father or just give them the outlook on my story, my struggles, and how I was able to get through it all. How I progressed from it and give vital information to help motivate them.”
So what exactly can readers gain from his book? Well Fizz states, “I would say they could gain some knowledge on fatherhood and how to deal with the pros & cons of it. How to deal with the struggles of balancing an entertainment career or any career. How to function between the two. Most importantly, not to put so much stress on yourself when it comes to progressing in your career. The fact that you are a parent is a constant reminder that you have that responsibility no matter what.”
Fizz makes it clear in a heartfelt tone that single fathers simply have to find that balance while continuing to be a responsible parent and maintaining a successful career. He stressed this has to be done for your sons, daughters, and never to let it all stress you out. For those who follow the artists on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, Fizz definitely displays a calm, but positive level of balance while raising his handsome son, Kamron. His book truly sounds like something a lot of young fathers should have a copy of on their shelves for inspiration when it debuts.
Since he has taken a conscious direction with his balance between fatherhood and music, we were curious to know if he planned on putting out any more books once this is released. Fizz casually responded, “Well I’m not certain, it depends on how this well this one is received by everyone. If I can be that voice for a certain demographic of people then I’m all for it”.
Fizz has a large fan base and I’m sure that once this book hits the shelves, many will definitely take interest in hearing more from him.
Besides his book we asked if he had any other new projects he was working on for his fans and he responded, “Yes, I’m actually about to release a new music project, a mix tape called ‘Lifestyle’ and you all can expect that really soon. There isn’t a set date, but be on the look out for it.”
For all the lovely ladies who have been following the handsome soon to be 31 year old and wondering if he was on the market, well Fizz went on to inform the fans, “Yea, I’m single, and then he added with a laugh, “I’m a single father!”.
So ladies don’t just come for one single dose of him, be prepared to come and accept him as well as his bundle of joy, which is his son.
Do you all feel that Love & Hip Hop Hollywood had a part in the role he displays as a father?
Well Fizz briefly explained that the show only gave a positive aspect to the father he already was prior to the show.
“I think it made me more cautious as a father. I’m very cautious as to what my son is subject to out here and in the public eye overall. I’m also more cautious on how I present myself with what I do, but it didn’t make me change up or make me become a better father…I’ve always been the father I display myself as.”
What makes his book worth reading is the fact that he never changed up on who he was as a father to his son because of a television show. He remained consistent and that is a definite plus for anyone looking to read a book from the voice of a man who is genuine about who he is.
So, how did Fizz team up with best-selling author Brittani Williams for this awesome book idea? He stated, “We teamed up through management…her management team actually reached out to my people about writing a book and if I had any subjects that I would like to touch on. I thought that touching on fatherhood would be the best for me because of my demographic offans and everyone who knows me or pays attention to me understands that about me. I felt like it was the right subject to touch on.”
Fizz also added that this is not the final step for him in his career achievements, “I will always feel under accomplished. I feel like I want to accomplish everything in the world, so I’m always pushing to strive for more.
With a new view on life and a positive display of growth, he is definitely no longer ‘LiL Fizz’ from B2K.
“It’s some people who will always refer to me as ‘Lil Fizz‘ because that’s what they know me as, but…It’s just Fizz now because I’ll be 31 soon and I’m far from little ( he laughed)…if anything my son is Lil Fizz and I’m Big Fizz.“
Fans are definitely going to be waiting for this book to hit the shelves because we all have had the opportunity to watch him grow through his music as well as take in what he showcased on television. Fizz is the perfect role model to young fathers all over. His love for his son is simply a beautiful display of living art for black fathers alike.
“I really make my son my priority, so any free time I get aside from whatever he needs is when I put the time into my music and it goes as it comes. It’s more of a hobby now for me because my son is my focus, so if I get the time to do the music then great, but my son is my top priority.”
His book is set to be released everywhere books are sold in April 2017 and the pre-order link will be in his bio on his Instagram page @airfizzo really soon.
With the ongoing rumors and drama that surrounds Fizz’s relationship with his son’s mother, Moneice Slaughter, it will be exciting to hear a very genuine, in-depth perspective on fatherhood and the relationship with his son in his own words.
It was really rewarding and good to see the future and what can come from your hard work.” (Brittani Williams)
Author and graphic designer extraordinaire Brittani Williams has sold several hundred thousand books and is even currently writing books with two of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood reality stars. The talented young writer is doing what many writers dream to do in a lifetime. While managing the recent release of her latest book, “Carl Weber’s Kingpins: Philadelphia”, with the well-known New York Times Best Selling author Carl Weber, she managed to team up with former B2k group member and Love & Hip Hop Hollywood reality star, “Fizz”.
Brittani Williams and Fizz collaborated on his new book soon to be released titled, ‘‘No Excuses: Being the Father My Son Deserves”.
The multi-talented author shared some insight behind the book collaboration with Fizz as well as how she became to be the published author and writer she is today.
Nothing but great expectations are in store for Williams as she shared with us and fans what she is currently working on.
“I’m actually working on a lot of stuff, so there will definitely be more books. I’m even working on a cookbook and I’ve partnered with my publisher, The TMG Firm, to launch my own publishing company called “Trendsetters Publications”. My author LaDonna Robinson and I wrote a book together called “Guilty of Stealing His Heart”. I’m currently looking for more authors to sign and give them an opportunity to release their books. I’m also working on a collaboration with Hazel-E from Love & Hip Hop Hollywood called “Girl Code: Ethics as a Lifestyle”, so be on the look out for those in the top of 2017.
So of course it’s got to be a bit of a challenge when you land the opportunity to collaborate with a well-known artist such as Fizz and Williams enlightened us on the amazing experience.
“I would say it was just a little bit challenging because it was the first time I had ever collaborated with a celebrity. With anything new you have to figure out what works best and once you figure out the formula to get the quality content, then you can go with that. It was really rewarding and good to see the future and what can come from your hard work.” “I would love to collaborate with him again. He has definitely been easy to work with. He is nice and laid back…which is the same way he is on TV.”
For any writer, it’s a huge achievement to network with other authors and celebrities all while pursuing your dreams. Williams stepped back for a minute to share with us what it was like pursuing her dream as a writer and some words she would have given a younger version of herself years ago before the success.
“I would have said to myself to stand firm on what you want to do because as a teen I was always creative, but I wasn’t able to be creative because that was not what my mom wanted. So, when I got out of school it was, “no you can’t do that”…”that’s not a job”…you need to go to school for this. I basically did what she wanted me to do until I became an adult and I could say “I’m not doing that anymore.”
“So, I wish I would have stayed more firm on what I really wanted to do. Even though my writing career started early, I was still published in my early twenties and now I’m 35. I was published, but I started writing when I was like twelve, so I wish I would have been able to deal with that a little bit sooner.”
It’s always tough for those you love to accept dreams outside of their own, but Williams has stuck through the worst of times and she is amazingly doing beyond what many may have ever saw for her.
In a world full of critics, Williams added that you really have to maintain a tough skin not just in life, but even when it comes to writing books. The hardest part about writing for the public eye is often the negative feedback.
“For most people it would likely be being critiqued. That can be tough sometimes like you can get emotional at times and your feelings can be a bit hurt. However, if you choose to be a writer or any kind of entertainer, you have to have tough skin because people will always have something to say. There will always be people that are negative and I love to take those things and use them to make me better.”
Williams has truly become a master of her gift for writing and is not afraid to step in any direction when it comes to doing what she shares a passion for, writing. When it comes to certain genres of the art, she is not picky about bringing those letters to life on paper.
“I don’t really prefer one genre over the other….I mainly write a lot of urban fiction, but that’s because that’s what my publisher wants or what the readers want from me. I’ve written other things, but I love to write period, so it really doesn’t matter.”
When you are into your passion, then everything related to it is nothing but a love experience. We asked if she had the opportunity to turn any of her books into a movie, which one of her top sellers she would pick from. Williams happily responded, “Definitely my book ‘Black Diamond’. I actually turned that into a play back in 2010. I produced a stage play of it, so at that time I also wrote a script for it. That’s always been something I wanted to see on the big screen…that would be amazing if that could happen!”
The saying goes that one should never upset a writer or a singer because you might end up in a song or a book. Williams says, “They never upset me, but I’ve definitely used the likeness of some friends and family…even myself in some of the things I write, but not because anybody made me upset…but if you know me, then you may end up in one.”
When we touched briefly on who was a major inspiration to Williams in her writing career, she calmly stated, “I would definitely say Quan because he has been around for a very long time and his work is consistent. Even when you are talking about his work, he never slacks with his readers…he takes his time. It’s a lot of good qualities about him that have made him successful, so he has always been someone I looked up to.”
Outside of her writing, she manages to keep up a successful career as a Graphic Designer and informed us that it is another talent that she will continue to work on.
“I will definitely continue with my graphics. I’m a graphic designer for a lot of independent authors and many of them are bestselling authors. If you log onto Amazon right now, you’ll see a lot of the book covers I’ve designed on the bestsellers’ list. My ultimate goal is to staff my graphics company, so it’s not solely on me.”
When you think of words like successful, accomplished, talented, and creative; Author Brittani Williams should definitely come to mind. We are excited for the talented author and her book collaboration with Fizz. She is living out her dreams regardless of any negativity and we all should aspire to follow suit!
