Billboard Songwriter/Producer James A. Worthy is one of the hardest working producers in the industry. Accompanying his musical flexibility, James has credits with various artists including Grammy Nominated Musicians & Award Winners such as: Dr. Dre, B Angie B, Arrested Development, Men At Large, T-Pain, Future, Bobby Valentino, and many more. James has been working hard this year from making appearances in movies like “Love By Chance,” and on hit reality shows, all while helping to produce sensational music for other artists.
Now he is taking things to even higher levels by teaming up with another artist, International Nova.
The New Rap & R&B Group called “Kings X2” has just recently hit the #10 spot on the Billboard Hot Singles Chart with their debut single “Wine For Me.” The song is quickly climbing into the radio markets and is projected to hit the #1 spot this month. These two talented artists coming together has definitely been creating a lot of buzz! The group started following the production of new music by International Nova’s remake of Big Pun’s, “Don’t Want To Be A Player.” Worthy performed on the single and from there the two continued to make their own records, shortly after forming the group, known as “King X2”.
What these two are doing is quite phenomenal with their combination of Hip-Hop and R&B. The Hip-Hop industry has not really seen many successful male duos team up since legendary rap duos like OutKast, Ying Yang Twins, Method Man & Redman, and more to name a few since the early 2000s.
When asked what makes the group stand out in the Hip Hop industry today? Worthy replied, “There are very few duos in Hip Hop today, but what makes us stand out is because we incorporate all genres within melody and arrangements. On top of me being a producer, I know what sounds right.”
James Worthy recently opened up yesterday during a radio interview with Starrdom100 Blog Radio Show, about other projects to expect from him this year and more with the new group collaboration. Be sure to check out the interview on Blog Talk Radio TODAY!
Be on the lookout for more hot music from the group this year and their album release which will be announced soon.
“Right now I’m in a better place and I feel like I’m a Stronger Woman”
Actress Sara Stokes, is a woman truly on the rise in life despite her mishaps. You probably know her best from MTV’s extremely successful reality show ‘Making The Band 2’ in 2002, and now in the hit television series ‘From The Bottom Up,’ which is a collaboration by executive producer Queen Latifah and creator Nicci Gilbert. Throughout the years, Sara has managed to keep herself quite busy with running marathons, getting her aesthetics license, acting in numerous movies, modeling, writing her biography, and raising her three beautiful children. Recently, Sara Stokes returned by making her second appearance on the show in Season 2 of BET’s reality series, ‘From The Bottom Up’, scheduled to air on Saturday, October 29 at 10p/9C. ‘From The Bottom Up’ is a six-episode docu-series following the journey of five women striving to change their lives, rebuild their families and live their dreams after falling from grace. Sara Stokes has been through a lot and took the time to sit down with Kontrol to share how she has continued to rise above it all in her career despite the negatives.
The television series ‘From The Bottom Up’ has really kept thousands of viewers on edge as it took us on a different path in reality TV by showcasing the harsh reality of being up one minute in life and down the next. For those that have been excited and patiently waiting to see what Sara Stokes is going to highlight for us this season, she gives us a little insight as to what we can expect to see and experience from her.
“I’m so excited, because the last season we left off with everyone showing what their bottom was and mines was super crazy because I was just coming out of jail and the cameras were right there. It was just so surreal. We kind of left with me rekindling things with my children, my family and doing the single “Sneak Peek” featuring BABS which is currently on ITunes, and now you guys are sitting back like okay what now? So this season is going to be more closure for me. You know I’m very transparent and honest because to me I feel like if things are going crazy in life and other stuff is surfacing and you are like what is happening here? Then maybe you need to get some closure and some counseling and just really find out what’s going on. So right now I’m in a better place and I feel like I’m a stronger woman and you’re definitely going to see a lot of self-healing in this season.”
Sara released her first single this summer titled, “Sneak Peek”, which featured former group member BABS (Making The Band 2). The hot single is currently available on ITunes for purchase. Later this year Sara plans to release an EP with all new music. The future for Sara looks very bright these days and we couldn’t help but ask what led to the inspiration behind one of her latest singles entitled, “Fragile Hearts”. The title itself, symbolizes such a powerful meaning, and is clear to be a representation of something that not just women can relate to, but something that everyone can say at some point in life may have discovered themselves, in a fragile state when it comes to matters of the heart.
“I picked out this track because it just really spoke to me. You know as an artist when you hear something, you’re like okay that’s it! Eric Campbell who wrote the song, I was actually with him a long time ago about 5 years and all of a sudden I was like let me call Eric and see what’s up, and of course he knows my story and everything I went through so I just started telling him from me being young, all the way up to older and letting him know what was going on and he just turned that into a song! I was like man you have captured my life in one song, it was amazing. It’s one of those songs that’s going to pull at your heart, it’s captivating and it is on ITunes.”
“I feel I have grown so much and I’m not where I was 10 or even 5 years ago. I feel like such a changed woman. I’m in a better place and I’m stronger. I’m figuring out life because I don’t feel as if anybody ever has it all together. I’m just showing the world that no matter what your bottom is, you can come out of it and you can still keep it moving and you can rise up and still conquer your dreams or whatever else may be. Even if it’s just being with your family and rekindling your relationship. Whatever your bottom was, you can come up!”
Music has truly been a highlight in the career path for the talented Sara Stokes and with the opportunity to come in as a television star on such a memorable TV hit series on MTV back in 2002, we couldn’t help but wonder if that appearance on the show, “Making The Band 2” lead to opening the doors in some way for her to successfully gain that leap into her music career.
“Well it influenced me a lot because it was the biggest show on MTV at that time. We made history with that show, having 3 seasons, and being around Diddy was like Wow I’m actually around somebody that I admire, listened to his music and looked up to him, and you know to be working with somebody so driven and smart and just crazy with the promoting side and business side was amazing. So I took that, watched how he did that and I took it in. Obviously til this day people still remember “Making the Band’. That right there was a definite bonus for me and the only thing that I feel like was a hindrance was the reality show fame. A lot of people felt like Oh she’s just a reality show individual, that’s all she is and she really is not a singer or have any other real talents, (laughing) and its plenty of talent over this way! But also that can be a plus to be on a reality show because that’s like the best promotion ever so it’s got its ups and its downs.”
Stokes added that she still remains close in touch with former members from the show such as Dylan and former member BABS, who is featured on her single “Sneak Peeks”. With so much progress occurring in her life since the show, she has been blessed greatly to appear on ‘From The Bottom Up’. Sara spoke briefly on how she felt about being given the opportunity to work on the show with Nicci Gilbert.
“Nicci is just a longtime friend of mine, I worked with her a long time ago, probably more than 10 years ago and you know it just came back around where I was at a different time in my life and I was pretty much all over the place. A year went by and you just have that down season and she just happened to be doing a show. She was the creator of the show and my PR that I was working with Kenneth Robinson and Regina Daniels just spoke my name to her and she was like “Sara, Oh I love Sara”. Then you know TMZ plastered all over that I was in jail and it was just a blessing in disguise.”
“So even out of the dark there was light. The show was really based about real healing and showing women at their lowest. These were women who use to be in the lime light and were losing everything…to me it’s the best thing to show people, that you can still make it and you can still come up. I felt like this was a God given show to express to people that we all go through some junk but what are you going to do about it? You either going to stay down or you gone get up!”
Every person in life has been through a moment where they have been down and as Stokes stated we all must make a decision as to whether you will rise above it or let it get the best of you. Sara has truly found ways to stay above the darts that life has tossed her way and has some positive advice for any woman that has ever been down in life or at that bottom.
“I would say that you really have to get to the root of the problem while you are at that bottom you know. I feel like that was what I was missing while I was at that bottom. I felt like God had stopped me in my tracks and said the way you are going isn’t going to be good. While at the bottom, you need to realize what’s going on in your life and heal some things that have happened early on in life that may be surfacing. It’s just time to grow up some more because you don’t want to stay stagnant in the same thing…you want to be better. So I feel like you got to get that self-healing because it can be something that went on back in the day that you never got healing for. Also get counseling because so many think in the black community that it means you’re psychotic if you see a therapist. No that’s not the case…this is somebody that can structure your life who is not judging you and help you rise up from that state”.
Stokes feels that her children have been a true inspiration in helping mold her into the woman she is today. “I feel like it made me become more grown, and more wiser”. Sara has not allowed any of the negatives in her life to break her down nor stop her from continuing to pursue projects and plans to reveal a lot of her life in the latest season of, “From The Bottom Up”.
“I feel like it’s my time to speak my voice. Not just let the world say “Oh she’s crazy, she has done this and that”, and it’s over for her….no I really get to let them know through my own words…and that’s what I love so much. They can see who the real Sara Stokes is, from my family and everything I went through. It’s going to be some really big surprises on this show.”
“I never look at anything as if this is the worse and I might as well lay down and die, no I’m still here and as long as I keep fighting to get back up, then I’m going to be alright. The stuff in my past, made me who I am today.”
Be sure to keep up with Sara Stokes by tuning in to the second season premiere of, “From The Bottom Up” on Saturday, October 29,10p/9C. You can also check out her latest single, “Fragile Hearts” available now on ITUNES for purchase. Sara also has her own label, New Life Entertainment which she has been working on independently and its fire along. You can also check out her radio show on Playboy along with the release of her beauty book and skincare line! Sara Stokes is truly a woman on the move and we can’t help but expect greatness from her.
