Sonia Lewis Speaks On Being the CEO of the First Black Female Owned Student Debt Repayment Company

Sonia Lewis, is the first African American Female CEO of an award-winning business, The Student Loan Doctor LLC.

Lewis has been considered the people’s expert for all matters related to student loan debt repayment. She has been invited to share her expertise on many different platforms to include, The White House Briefing on Advancing Equity for Women and Girls of Color, and multiple colleges and universities. In the midst of educating others, she is a three-time self- published author, selling over 500 copies in the first year of print with her book titled, “31 Day Budget Guide”.

Student loan debt percentages in the United States increase consistently every year. Studies show that as of 2018, student loan debt exceeded $1.5 trillion! Sonia Lewis shared with me her reasons for wanting to get involved in this epidemic and ways we could better educate ourselves about student loans.

What inspired you to start a student debt repayment company?

“I started this company by accident. In 2014, I attended a class called, “Financial Peace University” by Dave Ramsey. The area that most people needed support with was student loans. Helping people create a game plan for their loans was something I had did within my previous employment.”

What services do you offer for those looking to repay their student loans?

“We offer all services as it relates to federal loans. We can assist in the early stages of private loan repayment. We can assist with finding affordable repayment options, consolidation and default rehabilitation.”

What is the biggest mistake you feel people make with getting student loans?

“The biggest mistake would be that people are not considering a rule of thumb: borrowing determination= career compensation. Meaning if the career’s yearly salary does not equal to the same or more than the expected debt accrued, it would probably not be a good idea to borrow the debt.”

What are your thoughts on the fact that as of 2018, student loan debt exceeded $1.5 trillion!

“I think that it is important to find creative and solution oriented ideas. Millennial’s and African American women are most likely to be affected negatively by the 1.5 trillion debt.”

Would you vouch for the United States to get rid of Student Loans & allow students to attend school for free? If so, Why? Or Why Not? (There are countries that offer free college education)

“I would vote yes for student loans to be cut if the plan for free college was amenable. Student loans provide students with Options. Free college could limit someone’s ability to choose their preference of education.”

Sonia Lewis’s company, The Student Loan Doctor LLC, has been designed to educate others about their student loan debt and provide assistance in making a tangible plan for repayment. The social impact goal of the business is to help a generation of borrowers become free of debt to promote social mobility and wealth building! We all want freedom from debt and this is an excellent way to kick off the New Year! Educate yourselves on ways to eliminate debt and get back to living your best life!

American Express Sues Iggy Azalea

Iggy Azalea has found an enemy in American Express.

Bad news for the ‘Fancy’ rapper’s finances below…

For the last two years we have seen the rapper struggle to replicate the success of 2014’s ‘Fancy’ thanks to backstage beefs with her label bosses.

It seems that this trouble has spilled over into her bank account. For reasons she’s not yet ready to reveal.  Iggy decided to fund her lifestyle by borrowing money from American Express but now finds herself struggling to pay the company back.

This has rubbed them the wrong way and, with hopes of clawing back their cash, has forced them to file a lawsuit against her.

So I mean exactly how big of a deal is it? Well she went over her $50,000 limit by $250,000!

If successful, the company will secure the money owed as well as the legal fees they’ve been forced to front for suing her in the first place.

Not a good vibe eh.

‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ Star Karen Huger & Husband Ray Owe Millions in Back Taxes

Karen and Ray Huger, stars of Bravo’s ‘The Real Housewives of Potomac,’ reportedly owe nearly $1.5 million in back-due federal taxes.

Ray’s company owes more than $3 million.

A major plot point of the show, whose finale was last weekend, involved cast members questioning whether the couple’s finances were as gold-plated as they portrayed them. (So wait, some things on reality TV are actually real?) Fueling the on-screen speculation was the Hugers’ sale of their Potomac home in August for $1.685 million, far less than its listing price of $2.5 million and its county-assessment value of $2.37 million.

It seems the suspicious pals were right: Something’s amiss. The government has a $1.468 million lien against Ray Huger, 70, a former IBM executive who founded software and consulting company Paradigm Solutions in 1991, according to an April 26 filing in Fairfax County Circuit Court. Paradigm Solutions, where Huger is the president and chief executive, also has a $3.06 million lien against it, Montgomery County Circuit Court records show.

“It’s a private matter; it’s being addressed,” Huger said in a brief interview Wednesday.

Meanwhile, the couple have moved into a home in Great Falls, Va., leading some of the Potomac cast to wonder whether the geographic shift disqualifies Karen Huger, 54, from her queen-bee-of-Potomac-ladies status (though several of the others also live outside Potomac, so it seems the Maryland suburb is more a state of mind than a Zip code).

And no matter her locale, money woes certainly wouldn’t count Huger out of a potential third season for the franchise (Bravo hasn’t said whether the Potomac franchise is being re-upped), but if past is precedent, they’d only provide more drama to the show.
