Brandon T. Jackson stars in the new scary movie, “Eloise,” alongside Chace Crawford, but you’d be surprised at what happens to his character that defies the stereotype! Eloise tells the story of four friends that break into an abandoned insane asylum in search of a death certificate which will grant one of them a large inheritance. However, finding it soon becomes the least of their worries in a place haunted by dark memories.
Outside of putting in work on the screen, Brandon has been on tour. The #FreshNFunny Tour began last year, and has sold out shows everywhere!
I had the pleasure of catching one of his shows in Atlanta, GA and the entire spot was on the edge of their seats in laughter the entire performance. Jackson has always proven himself to be very down to earth and realistic when it comes to reaching the audience. I believe what we adore the most is his knowledgeable way of relaying information to us while keeping it real about society and life experiences.
Not only has the 32 year old been busy making us all laugh and entertaining us in the movies, he currently has his own clothing line! Yes Mr. Jackson is a business man with his hands quite busy these days. The clothing line represents his spiritual view on life and is called, Kingdom Clothing. The clothing line has been quite successful!

About Brandon T. Jackson:
Brandon Timothy Jackson( March 7, 1984) was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, he is the son of Beverly Yvonne (Bozeman) and Wayne Timothy Jackson. His parents are both pastors, and his maternal grandfather was a Pentecostal child preacher. He credits his sense of humor to both his father and his life straddling the fence between suburbia and the inner city.
Brandon held the title of “class clown” and grew his passion for comedy and acting by doing talent shows and performing at youth nights at his father’s church. By age 14, Brandon’s career as a stand-up comic evolved from local school shows and community projects, such as the “Motor City Youth Festival”, to an appearance in Marc Cayce‘s film, Nikita Blues (2001).
Brandon took an internship at local Detroit radio station 93.1 FM and soon found himself as a guest host at 105.9 FM. Brandon’s drive took him to Hollywood where, in 2001, he was cast as an extra in major movies such as Ali (2001), Bowling for Columbine (2002) and 8 Mile (2002). He began to get calls to open up and work with comedians, such as Chris Tucker and Wayne Brady.
After Brandon’s performances at New York City’s “Showtime at the Apollo” and BET’s Comicview (1992), the 19-year-old actor/comedian was cast in his first major movie role as Shad Moss‘s (X) best friend, “Junior”, in Roll Bounce (2005). He won Black Reel’s 2006 Best Breakthrough Performance award for his performance.
Jackson starred opposite NBA basketball superstar Kevin Durant in Thunderstruck (2012) and’Martin Lawrence (I)’ in the third incarnation of the highly profitable Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (2011) franchise released by Fox in 2011. He played Lawrence’s son and the two went undercover to solve a murder. Jackson is perhaps best known as Alpha Chino from the high- concept runaway hit Tropic Thunder (2008).
Demetria McKinney drops sexy video for her new single, “Easy”. The video was directed by RTD Entertainment.
“I wanted a video that gave off a cool, sexy, artsy vibe that showcased me as an artist,” says Demetria about the video’s concept.
The sultry track is available now on iTunes. “Easy”, which was co-written by Demetria McKinney, Courtlin Jabrae and Devin Horton, is the first single from her forthcoming album, Officially Yours, set to drop this Spring.
About Demetria McKinney
Vocal powerhouse Demetria McKinney is a triple threat in the truest sense of the term. She is an award-winning actress who has played diverse roles on the big and small screens as well as the stage. She is a talented singer with a rich voice requiring zero studio enhancements. And she is a skillful songwriter who generously expresses emotions in a way that instantly connects with listeners.
Widely known for her role as “Janine Payne” on the hit TBS sitcom “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,” which has taped over 254 episodes and received five NAACP Image Awards for Best Sitcom and now in syndication on BET. Demetria will also be reviving her role as Janine in the new Tyler Perry show “The Paynes” debuting on OWN in 2018.
Demetria was also a cast member on Bravo TV’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season” 7 and had cameo appearances on Season 8.
Even though her acting career keeps her very busy, Demetria always makes time for her first love: music. This eOne Music recording artist over the past few years has recorded and performed with artists such as Lyfe Jennings, Musiq Soulchild and Anthony David. Demetria has also opened for R&B mainstays such as Tyrese and Tank and has toured with the Pepsi Funkfest and R. Kelly.
Her latest single “Easy” is a song about a woman living and loving a man in a relationship that is growing. Demetria’s forthcoming LP Officially Yours, is scheduled for release early this year. The soulful ballad was written by McKinney, Courtlin Jabrae and Devin Horton, and was also produced by We Are Starbound Music.
All the songs on Officially Yours emanate from a place within Demetria that up until now she has only expressed through the characters that she’s played. The spectrum of a woman’s life lived out loud – with love, resilience and courage – is represented on Officially Yours.
“As a recording artist, this is where the most truthful, transparent side of me will be seen and heard,” Demetria says. “People mostly know me for the roles I have played, and they are all roles that I chose specifically for the lessons that I would learn from each character. Personally, I never wanted to show vulnerability because I thought it was a sign of weakness. I didn’t want to talk about situations I’ve endured and I would shut off opportunities that would make me connect with any past pain. I always hid behind my characters, and allowed them to overshadow Demetria. But the reason I call this LP Officially Yours is because the music represents the ‘official’ Demetria McKinney.”
McKinney first worked with Tyler Perry on his stage play, “Meet the Browns” and she went on to star in several other of his plays including “What’s Done In The Dark;” “Why Did I Get Married,” and “Madea’s Family Christmas.” Her additional stage work includes leading roles in the plays “The Mountaintop;” “Church Girl;” the musical “I Dream,” in which she portrayed Mrs. Coretta Scott King, and “Dreamgirls” where she performed alongside the legendary Jenifer Holliday. Her numerous film and television credits include the films “Daddy’s Little Girls;” “Breaking Up is Hard to Do;” “Necessary Roughness;” “Let’s Stay Together;” Drop Dead Diva’s and many more.
Demetria released two films last year “Let The Church Say Amen” on BET, directed by Regina King, starring Demetria, Naturi Naughton, Lela Rochon & Hosea Chanchez; and “Sons To The Grave” Directed by Mykelti Williamson, starring Demetria, Trevor Jackson & Darrin Henson.
Demetria is also the brand ambassador for LOREAL’s Dark & Lovely Au Naturale brand.
Well the love journey has come to a slow end! After dating for almost two months, Jennifer Lopez (J.Lo) and Drake have reportedly split. Things between the rapper (who is currently touring) and the actress/singer have been said to be slowing things down a bit. A source says that the couple are done, “for now”.
Another source states that “they have taken some time apart, not because they don’t want to be with each other, just because their schedules started getting insane.”
Recently, J.Lo posted on her Instagram a quote that read,
“Timing is everything. If it’s meant to happen, it will, and for the right reasons.”
The pair initially began this little romance upon rumors in December, when Drake was spotted at two of J-Lo’s Las Vegas shows. He also invited J.Lo to a dinner party in West Hollywood on December 19, and they were photographed leaving together in the same car. Earlier this year, Drizzy bought J.Lo a $100,000 platinum and diamond Tiffany & Co. necklace.Drake made another grand gesture when he learned Lopez had never attended prom. The “One Dance” rapper transformed an L.A. church into a winter-wonderland-themed dance where the couple were crowned prom king and queen. “He wanted her to have that experience,” a source told US Weekly at the time.
The former American Idol judge has also introduced Drake to her 8-year-old twins, Max and Emme. A source says, “Drake has been hanging out at Jennifer’s new house in Bel Air. He has been there several times and is getting to know her kids.”
Prior to dating Drake, Lopez dated dancer Casper Smart on and off for five years. They split last August. Drake was most recently linked to Rihanna.Lopez started up her Las Vegas residency again this week and also stars on “Shades of Blue,” while Drake as mentioned is still busy touring in support of his album, Views. So we can grasp some clear aspect as to why they need a little time apart with their schedules.
The duo turned the music industry upside down with after announcing their romance with a sizzling selfie but certain fans thought all might not be as it seems.
There was speculation that it’s all a publicity stunt for an upcoming collaboration or reality show. Certain fans even claimed Drake targeted J-lo to get back at her ex (and his rival P Diddy). However, E! News said the couple were “100 percent legit, and not a professional ploy to promote any type of business like many are assuming.”
“She likes Drake,” reveals a source close to the Shades of Blue star. “They’re just busy, so it has fizzled. She’s a mom with an insanely busy career. He’s touring in Europe. Who knows what will happen in the future when they’re more able to be in the same place.”
What do you all think about Drake & J-Lo’s relationship break? Do you think they will end up back together? Drake has been known to move on to the next pretty quick.
“Right now I’m in a better place and I feel like I’m a Stronger Woman”
Actress Sara Stokes, is a woman truly on the rise in life despite her mishaps. You probably know her best from MTV’s extremely successful reality show ‘Making The Band 2’ in 2002, and now in the hit television series ‘From The Bottom Up,’ which is a collaboration by executive producer Queen Latifah and creator Nicci Gilbert. Throughout the years, Sara has managed to keep herself quite busy with running marathons, getting her aesthetics license, acting in numerous movies, modeling, writing her biography, and raising her three beautiful children. Recently, Sara Stokes returned by making her second appearance on the show in Season 2 of BET’s reality series, ‘From The Bottom Up’, scheduled to air on Saturday, October 29 at 10p/9C. ‘From The Bottom Up’ is a six-episode docu-series following the journey of five women striving to change their lives, rebuild their families and live their dreams after falling from grace. Sara Stokes has been through a lot and took the time to sit down with Kontrol to share how she has continued to rise above it all in her career despite the negatives.
The television series ‘From The Bottom Up’ has really kept thousands of viewers on edge as it took us on a different path in reality TV by showcasing the harsh reality of being up one minute in life and down the next. For those that have been excited and patiently waiting to see what Sara Stokes is going to highlight for us this season, she gives us a little insight as to what we can expect to see and experience from her.
“I’m so excited, because the last season we left off with everyone showing what their bottom was and mines was super crazy because I was just coming out of jail and the cameras were right there. It was just so surreal. We kind of left with me rekindling things with my children, my family and doing the single “Sneak Peek” featuring BABS which is currently on ITunes, and now you guys are sitting back like okay what now? So this season is going to be more closure for me. You know I’m very transparent and honest because to me I feel like if things are going crazy in life and other stuff is surfacing and you are like what is happening here? Then maybe you need to get some closure and some counseling and just really find out what’s going on. So right now I’m in a better place and I feel like I’m a stronger woman and you’re definitely going to see a lot of self-healing in this season.”
Sara released her first single this summer titled, “Sneak Peek”, which featured former group member BABS (Making The Band 2). The hot single is currently available on ITunes for purchase. Later this year Sara plans to release an EP with all new music. The future for Sara looks very bright these days and we couldn’t help but ask what led to the inspiration behind one of her latest singles entitled, “Fragile Hearts”. The title itself, symbolizes such a powerful meaning, and is clear to be a representation of something that not just women can relate to, but something that everyone can say at some point in life may have discovered themselves, in a fragile state when it comes to matters of the heart.
“I picked out this track because it just really spoke to me. You know as an artist when you hear something, you’re like okay that’s it! Eric Campbell who wrote the song, I was actually with him a long time ago about 5 years and all of a sudden I was like let me call Eric and see what’s up, and of course he knows my story and everything I went through so I just started telling him from me being young, all the way up to older and letting him know what was going on and he just turned that into a song! I was like man you have captured my life in one song, it was amazing. It’s one of those songs that’s going to pull at your heart, it’s captivating and it is on ITunes.”
“I feel I have grown so much and I’m not where I was 10 or even 5 years ago. I feel like such a changed woman. I’m in a better place and I’m stronger. I’m figuring out life because I don’t feel as if anybody ever has it all together. I’m just showing the world that no matter what your bottom is, you can come out of it and you can still keep it moving and you can rise up and still conquer your dreams or whatever else may be. Even if it’s just being with your family and rekindling your relationship. Whatever your bottom was, you can come up!”
Music has truly been a highlight in the career path for the talented Sara Stokes and with the opportunity to come in as a television star on such a memorable TV hit series on MTV back in 2002, we couldn’t help but wonder if that appearance on the show, “Making The Band 2” lead to opening the doors in some way for her to successfully gain that leap into her music career.
“Well it influenced me a lot because it was the biggest show on MTV at that time. We made history with that show, having 3 seasons, and being around Diddy was like Wow I’m actually around somebody that I admire, listened to his music and looked up to him, and you know to be working with somebody so driven and smart and just crazy with the promoting side and business side was amazing. So I took that, watched how he did that and I took it in. Obviously til this day people still remember “Making the Band’. That right there was a definite bonus for me and the only thing that I feel like was a hindrance was the reality show fame. A lot of people felt like Oh she’s just a reality show individual, that’s all she is and she really is not a singer or have any other real talents, (laughing) and its plenty of talent over this way! But also that can be a plus to be on a reality show because that’s like the best promotion ever so it’s got its ups and its downs.”
Stokes added that she still remains close in touch with former members from the show such as Dylan and former member BABS, who is featured on her single “Sneak Peeks”. With so much progress occurring in her life since the show, she has been blessed greatly to appear on ‘From The Bottom Up’. Sara spoke briefly on how she felt about being given the opportunity to work on the show with Nicci Gilbert.
“Nicci is just a longtime friend of mine, I worked with her a long time ago, probably more than 10 years ago and you know it just came back around where I was at a different time in my life and I was pretty much all over the place. A year went by and you just have that down season and she just happened to be doing a show. She was the creator of the show and my PR that I was working with Kenneth Robinson and Regina Daniels just spoke my name to her and she was like “Sara, Oh I love Sara”. Then you know TMZ plastered all over that I was in jail and it was just a blessing in disguise.”
“So even out of the dark there was light. The show was really based about real healing and showing women at their lowest. These were women who use to be in the lime light and were losing everything…to me it’s the best thing to show people, that you can still make it and you can still come up. I felt like this was a God given show to express to people that we all go through some junk but what are you going to do about it? You either going to stay down or you gone get up!”
Every person in life has been through a moment where they have been down and as Stokes stated we all must make a decision as to whether you will rise above it or let it get the best of you. Sara has truly found ways to stay above the darts that life has tossed her way and has some positive advice for any woman that has ever been down in life or at that bottom.
“I would say that you really have to get to the root of the problem while you are at that bottom you know. I feel like that was what I was missing while I was at that bottom. I felt like God had stopped me in my tracks and said the way you are going isn’t going to be good. While at the bottom, you need to realize what’s going on in your life and heal some things that have happened early on in life that may be surfacing. It’s just time to grow up some more because you don’t want to stay stagnant in the same thing…you want to be better. So I feel like you got to get that self-healing because it can be something that went on back in the day that you never got healing for. Also get counseling because so many think in the black community that it means you’re psychotic if you see a therapist. No that’s not the case…this is somebody that can structure your life who is not judging you and help you rise up from that state”.
Stokes feels that her children have been a true inspiration in helping mold her into the woman she is today. “I feel like it made me become more grown, and more wiser”. Sara has not allowed any of the negatives in her life to break her down nor stop her from continuing to pursue projects and plans to reveal a lot of her life in the latest season of, “From The Bottom Up”.
“I feel like it’s my time to speak my voice. Not just let the world say “Oh she’s crazy, she has done this and that”, and it’s over for her….no I really get to let them know through my own words…and that’s what I love so much. They can see who the real Sara Stokes is, from my family and everything I went through. It’s going to be some really big surprises on this show.”
“I never look at anything as if this is the worse and I might as well lay down and die, no I’m still here and as long as I keep fighting to get back up, then I’m going to be alright. The stuff in my past, made me who I am today.”
Be sure to keep up with Sara Stokes by tuning in to the second season premiere of, “From The Bottom Up” on Saturday, October 29,10p/9C. You can also check out her latest single, “Fragile Hearts” available now on ITUNES for purchase. Sara also has her own label, New Life Entertainment which she has been working on independently and its fire along. You can also check out her radio show on Playboy along with the release of her beauty book and skincare line! Sara Stokes is truly a woman on the move and we can’t help but expect greatness from her.
Jaden Smith is obviously going through something massive. Whatever the issue is, must be pretty major for him to announce that he feels he has failed his father.
Jaden went on a rant Wednesday, to Instagram Live to pour out his thoughts on following your dreams!
But, that was only after he felt the need to confess that he’s moving out of Los Angeles and that he failed his father Will Smith!
Now I for one along with many would love to know exactly what it is he is engaged in that will be a letdown to his father. We all know that the Smith family seems to be pretty open to allowing the children to be very diverse in expressing themselves.
Yet something is clearly not being fully said in this little confession. I mean come on out and spill the tea for us Jaden because the world is a bit eager to know what exactly you are saying.
While sitting in the parking lot of the DMV, the actor and artist shared:
“It’s going to be so funny to tell my dad that I’ve failed straight up. Everybody follow your heart, you know what I’m saying? Do exactly what you want to do, be who you want to be. I’m about to move out of LA. There’s a lot of bad things here. Create the life that you want for yourself. Don’t try to be somebody else. It’s hard these days to really create the life you want for yourself because there’s nobody really here that’s like supporting the youth or the youth’s creativity.”
He implies he’s not being supported creatively, but made no mention of why exactly he feels like he’s letting his dad down!
I honestly believe that it has nothing to do with getting some support on his creativity. This issue goes a bit deeper than the surface and that could very well be why he feels the need to get out of the LA spotlight for a while.
Yet being the son of a very popular set of parents, can put a large amount of stress on any young adult.
The 18 year old simply wants to be free to be who he is.
We’re sure more will surface on this topic later this year but for now, you can’t help but understand his desire to get away from the big lights!
Watch his rant (below) to see if you can figure it out!
