JAMES WORTHY Releases New Quarantine Music “Do You Know”

James Worthy (Singer, Musician)

It’s nothing new for the master producer and recording artist James Worthy to hop back in the studio and drop a fresh new creative sound during our quarantine and chill! We have been spending days binge-watching Netflix and Hulu all while trying to gather our thoughts to prepare to be released from curfews!

So besides a little TV…what exactly has been on your mind?

Well James Worthy’s new record entitled “Do You Know,” which is produced by Iso Jozey, helps us see the mind of a man confessing his love for a significant other while trying to get them to understand the meaning of it over 808 drums.

The song opens up giving you that building anticipation of what’s to come through the confession of a man who sounds very apologetic, and simply wants that special lady to know he is thinking about her! This beautiful short story being told with persuasive vocals and captivating sounds goes on to open up with the guy letting her know that though he has been focus on his grind, he feels selfish without her!  Queens should definitely be able to respect a man who is keeping it real with you about how he feels and what’s really on his mind!

I mean after all this quarantine… a lady wants to know where your mind is!

Check out the single below and let us know your thoughts!

Entertainment Journalist Tanisha D. Davis Says “Gwen’s House” is Good For The Soul!

Hip Hop Recording artist Yung Bleu recently opened up a new restaurant in Mobile, Alabama, my home town, called “Gwen’s House” which serves up mouth-watering soul food dishes and seafood!

Now I absolutely love soul food especially when it’s done right! I had the pleasure of stopping by the location to satisfy a soulful craving, and in my opinion, there are always just a few dishes that every soul food restaurant has to deliver their A-game on for me and those items are fried chicken, collard greens, candied yams, cornbread, and baked macaroni and cheese! If you can’t sweep me off my feet with those items then I can’t really rock with you! In my book I  give Gwen’s House 5 stars, so allow me to share my experience and tell you why!

So I stepped into the restaurant which is beautiful by the way with my taste buds craving some soul food! My waitress (Tyler) was really professional and friendly and communicated with me and my guest often to make sure we enjoyed our food! I ordered some collard greens, fried chicken, and candied yams! The wait time was not long and soon our waitress came out with the food. By this time I’m staring at my plate and my mouth is like come through with the food already!

My yummy meal from Gwen’s House!

The first thing to hit my mouth was the collard greens and a nice piece of smoked turkey necks I assume. It was like a heavenly party in my mouth! The greens were cooked in my opinion to perfection!

Usually, I visit soul food restaurants where the collard greens are still crunchy or they haven’t cooked long enough but these were cooked to perfection and the only thing I was mad about is how fast they disappeared from my plate! The candied yams were sweet but not to the point where the sweetness overwhelms you. What I also loved is that the yams were nice and soft but not to firm. I’ve been places where the yams were undercooked and that my friend is like eating a raw potato covered in syrup.

My final taste was the fried chicken and honey it had a beautiful light crunch with some really great flavor! I just could not stop eating them even though my stomach was clearly full by this point with soulful goodness! I must admit that these wings took me into the itis zone and I found myself having to untighten my belt buckle!

I highly recommend that the next time you are passing through Mobile, Alabama and you have some soul food in mind, make your stop at “Gwen’s House” and tell them I sent you!

Rapper Yung Bleu Opens Up Restaurant in Mobile, Alabama

Rapper Yung Bleu shows love in his hometown city, Mobile Alabama by opening up a soul food restaurant. The restaurant he named, “Gwen’s House” is named after Bleu’s best friend’s mother, Ms. Gwen (Gwendolyn Crawford), who he says was like a second mom to him.

In a recent interview with Fox 10 News, the rapper states “Everybody went to Gwen’s house to either eat or stay there so it’s just a part of my culture growing up.”

The rapper is well known across the country for his music and now wants his supporters to experience a hint of his childhood.

He told Fox 10, “I want it to be like soul food and at the same time family orientated. That’s why I put the arcade games and the chill area,” he said. “I feel like soul food in a good area and setting…I feel like you can’t do anything but win.”

The restaurant recently had a soft opening on December 17 and the turn out was awesome. “Gwen’s House” is located on Government Blvd just east of Knollwood Drive in the same parking lot as Carmike Theaters. This is an awesome thing he has done and I’m definitely looking forward to supporting it!

Katy Perry’s ‘Dark Horse’ Found Guilty of Copying Christian Rap Song

Katy Perry’s 2013 hit “Dark Horse” copied a 2009 Christian rap song, a jury found on Monday.

via ABC:

Monday’s decision returned by a nine-member federal jury in a Los Angeles courtroom came five years after Marcus Gray and two co-authors first sued alleging “Dark Horse” stole from “Joyful Noise,” a song Gray released under the stage name Flame.

The case now goes to a penalty phase, where the jury will decide how much the plaintiffs are owed for copyright infringement.

Gray’s attorneys argued that the beat and instrumental line featured through nearly half of “Dark Horse” are substantially similar to those of “Joyful Noise.”

“Dark Horse,” a hybrid of pop, trap and hip-hop sounds that was the third single of Perry’s 2013 album “Prism,” spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2014, and earned Perry a Grammy nomination.

Perry’s attorneys argued that the song sections in question represent the kind of simple musical elements that if found to be subject to copyright would hurt music and all songwriters.

“They’re trying to own basic building blocks of music, the alphabet of music that should be available to everyone,” Perry’s lawyer Christine Lepera said during closing arguments Thursday.

Perry and the song’s co-authors, including her producer Dr. Luke, testified during the seven-day trial that none of them had heard the song or heard of Gray before the lawsuit, nor did they listen to Christian music.

Gray’s attorneys had only to demonstrate, however, that “Joyful Noise” had wide dissemination and could have been heard by Perry and her co-authors, and provide as evidence that it had millions of plays on YouTube and Spotify, and that the album it’s included on was nominated for a Grammy.

“They’re trying to shove Mr. Gray into some gospel music alleyway that no one ever visits,” said plaintiffs’ attorney Michael A. Kahn during closing arguments, when he also pointed out that Perry had begun her career as a Christian artist.

The 34-year-old pop superstar and “American Idol” judge brought laughs to the proceedings when she testified during its second day, and her lawyers were having technical troubles getting “Dark Horse” to play in the courtroom.

“I could perform it live,” Perry said.

No performance was necessary after the audio issues were fixed. Jurors heard both songs played back-to-back in their entirety at the end of closing arguments this week.

Perry was not present for the reading of the verdict Monday afternoon.

Listen to the similarities in both songs below.

Tisha Campbell’s Ex-Husband Duane Martin Claims She’s Mentally Unstable

Tisha Campbell and Duane Martin’s divorce is looking really bad!

Earlier in their proceedings, she accused Duane of stealing — and now he says she’s only accusing him because she’s having mental breakdowns.

via TMZ:

Tisha’s ex also claims she’s not herself anymore and says she’s been “fabricating stories that clearly are untrue.” Duane also claims she’s been “raging” against others.

According to the docs, Duane’s legal team had to take breaks during Tisha’s deposition because she was unable to control her emotions.

A source close to Tisha calls the new allegations “nonsense” and a continuation of the “gaslighting” he did to her throughout their marriage. We’re also told Tisha’s working on a new sitcom set to debut in the fall, plus a couple of high-profile reality shows.”

(MUSIC VIDEO) Grammy and NAACP Image Award Nominated Recording Artist RAHEEM DEVAUGHN Delivers That “JUST RIGHT” Type Of Love In New Video!

unnamed (6)

Nothing feels better than finding yourself wrapped up in the right amount of love!

The visual for “Just Right” is written by Raheem Devaughn featuring the talented Singer/Actress V. Bozeman (Empire), directed by Chris Scholar from a storyline envisioned by DeVaughn. It’s the visual accompaniment to DeVaughn’s top 20 Billboard R&B Songs hit and first single from his seventh studio album, The Love Reunion (SRG/DMG/Universal Music Group). The DeVaughn-penned track was produced by Tim Kelley, formerly of the production duo Tim & Bob (Boyz II Men, TLC).

This is an infectious anthem composed to celebrate not only women of black and brown color but all women globally,” mentions Raheem. “Hands down, I predict it will be one of the urban wedding songs of the decade,” he adds. The single is lifted from Raheem‘s recently released seventh studio album, “The Love Reunion“, available on all streaming and download platforms now via the SRC/DMG label imprint.

Via Billboard:

“DeVaughn is concurrently developing various film and television projects and helming his LoveLife Foundation, which helps women and men in domestic abuse situations as well as people living with HIV/AIDS. He’s also writing and producing several songs for Bozeman’s own upcoming album from SRG. Her first single is expected in September.“V. Bozeman is a phenomenal talent that the world needs to hear,” says DeVaughn. “It’s an honor to be involved both creatively and musically in her soon-to-be-released project.”

Check out the Video Below!

In the midst of his now decade-long steady climb to international R&B notoriety and prominence, he’s been the singers’ singer, a consummate ladies’ man, the fellas’ fella and the “go-to” modern-day R&B/soul crooner with sensibilities simultaneously grounded in the past and the present. Indeed, RAHEEM DEVAUGHN has been many things to contemporary music culture and his ever-expanding core audience, for which he’s amassed a combination of prestigious award honors/nominations and multiple chart-topping releases.

“There’s a lot of talk about ‘King of R&B’ and ‘King of Soul,” but I’ve got enough music for the next ten years,” says the three-time Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter. “I literally have enough music for the decade to release. If I stopped recording now and said I wouldn’t record for five years, I’ve got enough music for ten. So I can’t wait, because I’m just warming up.”

unnamed (2)

In the meantime, look for RAHEEM DEVAUGHN to continue to scintillate, titillate and seduce with his most-authentic soul stylings amidst this intoxicating, mood-altering collection of songs he’s poured his heart and soul into. “This album right here is hand-crafted to impregnate the world…bring people together. I’m here to be one of the greatest of my generation. And that’s not based on album sales and hype, or what reality show I’m on. It’s purely based on the music, based on the culture…and based on style and grace. I’m growing up not only musically, but personally. It’s kind of like the story of the phoenix rising…I’m coming out of the fire.”
