Hip Hop Recording artist Yung Bleu recently opened up a new restaurant in Mobile, Alabama, my home town, called “Gwen’s House” which serves up mouth-watering soul food dishes and seafood!
Now I absolutely love soul food especially when it’s done right! I had the pleasure of stopping by the location to satisfy a soulful craving, and in my opinion, there are always just a few dishes that every soul food restaurant has to deliver their A-game on for me and those items are fried chicken, collard greens, candied yams, cornbread, and baked macaroni and cheese! If you can’t sweep me off my feet with those items then I can’t really rock with you! In my book I give Gwen’s House 5 stars, so allow me to share my experience and tell you why!
So I stepped into the restaurant which is beautiful by the way with my taste buds craving some soul food! My waitress (Tyler) was really professional and friendly and communicated with me and my guest often to make sure we enjoyed our food! I ordered some collard greens, fried chicken, and candied yams! The wait time was not long and soon our waitress came out with the food. By this time I’m staring at my plate and my mouth is like come through with the food already!
The first thing to hit my mouth was the collard greens and a nice piece of smoked turkey necks I assume. It was like a heavenly party in my mouth! The greens were cooked in my opinion to perfection!
Usually, I visit soul food restaurants where the collard greens are still crunchy or they haven’t cooked long enough but these were cooked to perfection and the only thing I was mad about is how fast they disappeared from my plate! The candied yams were sweet but not to the point where the sweetness overwhelms you. What I also loved is that the yams were nice and soft but not to firm. I’ve been places where the yams were undercooked and that my friend is like eating a raw potato covered in syrup.
My final taste was the fried chicken and honey it had a beautiful light crunch with some really great flavor! I just could not stop eating them even though my stomach was clearly full by this point with soulful goodness! I must admit that these wings took me into the itis zone and I found myself having to untighten my belt buckle!
I highly recommend that the next time you are passing through Mobile, Alabama and you have some soul food in mind, make your stop at “Gwen’s House” and tell them I sent you!
Special thanks to Chef Gwendolyn Crawford on such amazing food, and most importantly congratulations & special thanks to Yung Bleu for giving us all an opportunity to experience soulful flavors of his childhood!

Rapper Yung Bleu shows love in his hometown city, Mobile Alabama by opening up a soul food restaurant. The restaurant he named, “Gwen’s House” is named after Bleu’s best friend’s mother, Ms. Gwen (Gwendolyn Crawford), who he says was like a second mom to him.
In a recent interview with Fox 10 News, the rapper states “Everybody went to Gwen’s house to either eat or stay there so it’s just a part of my culture growing up.”
The rapper is well known across the country for his music and now wants his supporters to experience a hint of his childhood.
He told Fox 10, “I want it to be like soul food and at the same time family orientated. That’s why I put the arcade games and the chill area,” he said. “I feel like soul food in a good area and setting…I feel like you can’t do anything but win.”
The restaurant recently had a soft opening on December 17 and the turn out was awesome. “Gwen’s House” is located on Government Blvd just east of Knollwood Drive in the same parking lot as Carmike Theaters. This is an awesome thing he has done and I’m definitely looking forward to supporting it!
Actor and R&B vocalist Jacob Latimore has been releasing some really hot singles this year! His music is so soulful and the sound evokes feelings of nostalgia. When you think of real R&B music, his name falls under that category and he is an artist to definitely keep your eyes on. The talented 23-year-old released his album “Connection 2” back in April of this year and has been keeping fans on their toes since then delivering dope visuals to the tracks all while wrapping up Season 3 of “The Chi”.
His latest visual, “Don’t Wanna Leave” dropped at midnight and gives the ladies a reminder of what it feels like to have a man that’s not afraid to cater to your needs, no matter what you been through in the relationship. Ladies you know sometimes you get upset with a good man, but then you’re reminded that he has been good to you so you don’t want to leave, and your heart brings you right back.
The visual opens up with beautiful Fall scenes and Jacob singing,
“Pick out what you want….you know I got racks on me so pick out what you want….you know I like watching you when you look undecided…all this drip around you…you feel like you drowning…don’t wanna leave…you don’t wanna leave no more…don’t wanna leave…you don’t wanna leave no more…I stay on your mind…who make you feel like this?”
We’re looking forward to much more from the talented young Actor/Artist and be sure to catch him in the upcoming film, “Like A Boss” starring Tiffany Haddish, Rose Byrne, and Salma Hayek which is set to hit theaters January 10, 2020.

Katy Perry’s 2013 hit “Dark Horse” copied a 2009 Christian rap song, a jury found on Monday.
Monday’s decision returned by a nine-member federal jury in a Los Angeles courtroom came five years after Marcus Gray and two co-authors first sued alleging “Dark Horse” stole from “Joyful Noise,” a song Gray released under the stage name Flame.
The case now goes to a penalty phase, where the jury will decide how much the plaintiffs are owed for copyright infringement.
Gray’s attorneys argued that the beat and instrumental line featured through nearly half of “Dark Horse” are substantially similar to those of “Joyful Noise.”
“Dark Horse,” a hybrid of pop, trap and hip-hop sounds that was the third single of Perry’s 2013 album “Prism,” spent four weeks atop the Billboard Hot 100 in early 2014, and earned Perry a Grammy nomination.
Perry’s attorneys argued that the song sections in question represent the kind of simple musical elements that if found to be subject to copyright would hurt music and all songwriters.
“They’re trying to own basic building blocks of music, the alphabet of music that should be available to everyone,” Perry’s lawyer Christine Lepera said during closing arguments Thursday.
Perry and the song’s co-authors, including her producer Dr. Luke, testified during the seven-day trial that none of them had heard the song or heard of Gray before the lawsuit, nor did they listen to Christian music.
Gray’s attorneys had only to demonstrate, however, that “Joyful Noise” had wide dissemination and could have been heard by Perry and her co-authors, and provide as evidence that it had millions of plays on YouTube and Spotify, and that the album it’s included on was nominated for a Grammy.
“They’re trying to shove Mr. Gray into some gospel music alleyway that no one ever visits,” said plaintiffs’ attorney Michael A. Kahn during closing arguments, when he also pointed out that Perry had begun her career as a Christian artist.
The 34-year-old pop superstar and “American Idol” judge brought laughs to the proceedings when she testified during its second day, and her lawyers were having technical troubles getting “Dark Horse” to play in the courtroom.
“I could perform it live,” Perry said.
No performance was necessary after the audio issues were fixed. Jurors heard both songs played back-to-back in their entirety at the end of closing arguments this week.
Perry was not present for the reading of the verdict Monday afternoon.
Listen to the similarities in both songs below.
Tisha Campbell and Duane Martin’s divorce is looking really bad!
Earlier in their proceedings, she accused Duane of stealing — and now he says she’s only accusing him because she’s having mental breakdowns.
Tisha’s ex also claims she’s not herself anymore and says she’s been “fabricating stories that clearly are untrue.” Duane also claims she’s been “raging” against others.
According to the docs, Duane’s legal team had to take breaks during Tisha’s deposition because she was unable to control her emotions.
A source close to Tisha calls the new allegations “nonsense” and a continuation of the “gaslighting” he did to her throughout their marriage. We’re also told Tisha’s working on a new sitcom set to debut in the fall, plus a couple of high-profile reality shows.”
