The acclaimed actor will also follow up his most recent television appearance with series, Game Of Silence, which last episode aired on June 5, 2016.

Major congratulations to Larenz Tate, who is like a fine wine, and has even been referred to as a vampire, because he’s aged so well!

The work for the super sexy actor does not stop there!

The Chicago-native’s most recent project was a 10-episode audio series, Bronzeville. The audio series released Tuesday (Feb. 7). The show is based on the Windy City’s “policy” games of the 1940s, and also features Laurence Fishburne as an actor and producer, Tracee Ellis Ross, Tika Sumpter, and Cory Hardrict.

The series is available now on Spotify & ITunes for free! I had the pleasure of listening to the series and I can’t wait to hear the second episode. The series takes you way back to a time when you were able to utilize your imagination. The series is incredible and maybe we will luck up with them eventually turning this into a television series!

Besides working on this hot series, you can katch the actor in ‘Girls Trip’. The movie  also stars, Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall and Tiffany Haddish. It tells the story of when four lifelong friends travel to New Orleans for the annual Essence Festival, sisterhoods are rekindled, wild sides are rediscovered, and there’s enough dancing, drinking, brawling, and romancing to make the Big Easy blush.

You can Katch the movie in theaters on July 21.!

About Brandon T. Jackson:

Brandon Timothy Jackson( March 7, 1984) was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, he is the son of Beverly Yvonne (Bozeman) and Wayne Timothy Jackson. His parents are both pastors, and his maternal grandfather was a Pentecostal child preacher. He credits his sense of humor to both his father and his life straddling the fence between suburbia and the inner city.

Brandon held the title of “class clown” and grew his passion for comedy and acting by doing talent shows and performing at youth nights at his father’s church. By age 14, Brandon’s career as a stand-up comic evolved from local school shows and community projects, such as the “Motor City Youth Festival”, to an appearance in Marc Cayce‘s film, Nikita Blues (2001).

Brandon took an internship at local Detroit radio station 93.1 FM and soon found himself as a guest host at 105.9 FM. Brandon’s drive took him to Hollywood where, in 2001, he was cast as an extra in major movies such as Ali (2001), Bowling for Columbine (2002) and 8 Mile (2002). He began to get calls to open up and work with comedians, such as Chris Tucker and Wayne Brady.

After Brandon’s performances at New York City’s “Showtime at the Apollo” and BET’s Comicview (1992), the 19-year-old actor/comedian was cast in his first major movie role as Shad Moss‘s (X) best friend, “Junior”, in Roll Bounce (2005). He won Black Reel’s 2006 Best Breakthrough Performance award for his performance.

Jackson starred opposite NBA basketball superstar Kevin Durant in Thunderstruck (2012) and’Martin Lawrence (I)’ in the third incarnation of the highly profitable Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son (2011) franchise released by Fox in 2011. He played Lawrence’s son and the two went undercover to solve a murder. Jackson is perhaps best known as Alpha Chino from the high- concept runaway hit Tropic Thunder (2008).

Jackson received rave reviews for his role as the satyr Grover Underwood, the best friend and protector of Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief (2010), opposite Logan Lerman and Alexandra Daddario. Brandon co-starred in both Hulu’s original series Deadbeat(2014) and Showtimes’s _Californication (2008) (V)_.

Brandon currently lives in Los Angeles, CA.

“EASY” IS AVAILABLE NOW ON iTUNES

Demetria McKinney drops sexy video for her new single, “Easy”. The video was directed by RTD Entertainment.

“I wanted a video that gave off a cool, sexy, artsy vibe that showcased me as an artist,” says Demetria about the video’s concept.

The sultry track is available now on iTunes. “Easy”, which was co-written by Demetria McKinney, Courtlin Jabrae and Devin Horton, is the first single from her forthcoming album, Officially Yours, set to drop this Spring.

About Demetria McKinney

Vocal powerhouse Demetria McKinney is a triple threat in the truest sense of the term. She is an award-winning actress who has played diverse roles on the big and small screens as well as the stage. She is a talented singer with a rich voice requiring zero studio enhancements. And she is a skillful songwriter who generously expresses emotions in a way that instantly connects with listeners.

Widely known for her role as “Janine Payne” on the hit TBS sitcom “Tyler Perry’s House of Payne,” which has taped over 254 episodes and received five NAACP Image Awards for Best Sitcom and now in syndication on BET. Demetria will also be reviving her role as Janine in the new Tyler Perry show “The Paynes” debuting on OWN in 2018.

Demetria can currently be seen on Bounce TV’s breakout hit “Saints & Sinners”, BET’s “The Quad”, Centric TV’s “The Ladies Room” and the stage play “Love Jones The Musical”. Demetria also has recurring roles on Life Time’s “Devious Maids” and on TV One as a primary character on “The Rickey Smiley Show.”

Demetria was also a cast member on Bravo TV’s “The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season” 7 and had cameo appearances on Season 8.

Even though her acting career keeps her very busy, Demetria always makes time for her first love: music. This eOne Music recording artist over the past few years has recorded and performed with artists such as Lyfe Jennings, Musiq Soulchild and Anthony David. Demetria has also opened for R&B mainstays such as Tyrese and Tank and has toured with the Pepsi Funkfest and R. Kelly.

Her latest single “Easy” is a song about a woman living and loving a man in a relationship that is growing. Demetria’s forthcoming LP Officially Yours, is scheduled for release early this year. The soulful ballad was written by McKinney, Courtlin Jabrae and Devin Horton, and was also produced by We Are Starbound Music.

All the songs on Officially Yours emanate from a place within Demetria that up until now she has only expressed through the characters that she’s played. The spectrum of a woman’s life lived out loud – with love, resilience and courage – is represented on Officially Yours.

“As a recording artist, this is where the most truthful, transparent side of me will be seen and heard,” Demetria says. “People mostly know me for the roles I have played, and they are all roles that I chose specifically for the lessons that I would learn from each character.  Personally, I never wanted to show vulnerability because I thought it was a sign of weakness. I didn’t want to talk about situations I’ve endured and I would shut off opportunities that would make me connect with any past pain.  I always hid behind my characters, and allowed them to overshadow Demetria. But the reason I call this LP Officially Yours is because the music represents the ‘official’ Demetria McKinney.”

McKinney first worked with Tyler Perry on his stage play, “Meet the Browns” and she went on to star in several other of his plays including “What’s Done In The Dark;” “Why Did I Get Married,” and “Madea’s Family Christmas.” Her additional stage work includes leading roles in the plays “The Mountaintop;” “Church Girl;” the musical “I Dream,” in which she portrayed Mrs. Coretta Scott King, and “Dreamgirls” where she performed alongside the legendary Jenifer Holliday.  Her numerous film and television credits include the films “Daddy’s Little Girls;” “Breaking Up is Hard to Do;” “Necessary Roughness;” “Let’s Stay Together;” Drop Dead Diva’s and many more.

Demetria released two films last year “Let The Church Say Amen” on BET, directed by Regina King, starring Demetria, Naturi Naughton, Lela Rochon & Hosea Chanchez; and “Sons To The Grave” Directed by Mykelti Williamson, starring Demetria, Trevor Jackson & Darrin Henson.

Oh No! Drake & J-Lo Have Broken Up!

Drake & J-lo Have Broken Up

Well the love journey has come to a slow end! After dating for almost two months, Jennifer Lopez (J.Lo) and Drake have reportedly split. Things between the rapper (who is currently touring) and the actress/singer have been said to be slowing things down a bit. A source says that the couple are done, “for now”.

Another source states that “they have taken some time apart, not because they don’t want to be with each other, just because their schedules started getting insane.”

Recently, J.Lo posted on her Instagram a quote that read,

“Timing is everything. If it’s meant to happen, it will, and for the right reasons.”

The pair initially began this little romance upon rumors in December, when Drake was spotted at two of J-Lo’s Las Vegas shows. He also invited J.Lo to a dinner party in West Hollywood on December 19, and they were photographed leaving together in the same car. Earlier this year, Drizzy bought J.Lo a $100,000 platinum and diamond Tiffany & Co. necklace. Drake made another grand gesture when he learned Lopez had never attended prom. The “One Dance” rapper transformed an L.A. church into a winter-wonderland-themed dance where the couple were crowned prom king and queen. “He wanted her to have that experience,” a source told US Weekly at the time.

The former American Idol judge has also introduced Drake to her 8-year-old twins, Max and Emme. A source says, “Drake has been hanging out at Jennifer’s new house in Bel Air. He has been there several times and is getting to know her kids.”

Prior to dating Drake, Lopez dated dancer Casper Smart on and off for five years. They split last August. Drake was most recently linked to Rihanna. Lopez started up her Las Vegas residency again this week and also stars on “Shades of Blue,” while Drake as mentioned is still busy touring in support of his album, Views. So we can grasp some clear aspect as to why they need a little time apart with their schedules.

The duo turned the music industry upside down with after announcing their romance with a sizzling selfie but certain fans thought all might not be as it seems.

There was speculation that it’s all a publicity stunt for an upcoming collaboration or reality show. Certain fans even claimed  Drake targeted J-lo to get back at her ex (and his rival P Diddy). However, E! News said the couple were “100 percent legit, and not a professional ploy to promote any type of business like many are assuming.”

“She likes Drake,” reveals a source close to the Shades of Blue star.  “They’re just busy, so it has fizzled. She’s a mom with an insanely busy career. He’s touring in Europe. Who knows what will happen in the future when they’re more able to be in the same place.”

What do you all think about Drake & J-Lo’s relationship break? Do you think they will end up back together? Drake has been known to move on to the next pretty quick.

GIANTS is a scripted drama digital series starring Bland, along with child star Vanessa Baden Kelly (“Kenan & Kel,” “Rosewood”) and newcomer Sean Samuels. The show follows three Black millennials nearing the end of their 20s. As they approach age 30, each battle their own inner giants as tougher obstacles of adulthood await. The stakes have never been higher. GIANTS takes things a step further than the typical coming of age story by pushing new boundaries of very real issues including mental health, sexual identity, religious skepticism and grave methods of economic survival.

Insecure’s Issa Rae and Empire’s Jussie Smollett have teamed up to produce Giants, written and directed by James Bland. It is a six-episode series.

Via Essence:

“Giants takes a deep dive into mental health and sexuality, issues that are still somewhat stigmatized in the black community. The show also explores race, class, police brutality, and much more in a very honest and real way. The show finds a way to delicately balance humor with more intense moments, which is what makes it so relatable and heartfelt. Viewers will see themselves in the characters and laugh along with them as they find moments of light in dark situations.”

“What applies to all of these characters is that they decided not to live life the way they’ve been told, and to find their own path to happiness,” Bland told Colorlines.com.

The new original series, premiered January 25 at 8pm. on Rae’s YouTube channel.

REALITY STAR NIKKO LONDON TALKS ABOUT NEW BOOK & MORE!

photo-8
Nikko London

Londell Smith (41) better known by his stage name Nikko London, is known for his music as well as grand appearance on VH1’s reality show Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. The artist is known virally for a tape that happened to leak back in 2014 with another Reality Star, Mimi Faust.

After all of the commotion from the show and appearances on other shows such as Marriage Boot camp, the artist has a story for us all.

London recently teamed up with published Author Mya Kay to write his new book titled, “Sex, Entertainment & Lies”. The book is going to be a “tell all” book about the struggles of Nikko London within the Entertainment Industry, secrets shared and how he got to where he is now.

Nikko London encountered a lot of hate behind his appearance on the Reality TV Show, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

Queen Dynasty was able to sit down with Nikko London in a recent interview to get some facts about his life after the show and to discuss his new book.

So what led Nikko to the idea for writing a book?

“I felt like people needed to know more about me, I’m a question mark to so many. The idea of me writing this book was to give people a better understanding of me. I also wanted people to have a part of me forever; this is something that’s going to live on. This is literally two decades of me in this book and this is what shaped me into who I am today”.

We all are curious to know what we can learn from his book and London as well as Author Mya chimed in to share a brief highlight of the book.

“The book is about, “Sex Entertainment & Lies” to sum it up. There was the celebrity woman that I fooled around with, the griminess of the entertainment business and the lies I told. Let me add, also the lies that were told on me as well. This book contains two decades of my survival and hustle. ‘Mya Kay’ added that they will also get to see the musician side.  You’re going to get a man in this book who had 4 major record deals that people didn’t even know about.  For a show to be called Love & Hip Hop, and not highlight the Hip Hop part of him was unusual. He had value before the show.”

It’s truly difficult for any one person to experience everything that London did after being on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta, while maintaining a productive career. The star shared with us what life had been like for him after the show.

“Man, how can I sum this up?! Life after Love & Hip Hop has been a rollercoaster. It’s like a love & hate relationship with people I don’t even know. They only know me from the show but it’s taken me down some rough roads trying to make money, secure branding deals and walk through’s with promoters. It’s been a

challenge and it hasn’t been an easy road, but I’m still out here hustling & doing what I got to do. They don’t really hate me ….just what they saw on the show.”

If you follow Nikko London on Instagram then you can definitely get a taste of what he has been busy working on. London has shared some excellent videos of his fitness training and spoke to us about the program and other projects.

“Currently I’m launching an online fitness company called ‘Zeek Pack’. It focuses on teaching people body weight training and how to use their own body weight to gain maximum results and look their best. The system also comes with a nutrition plan. It’s a lifestyle journey to health and fitness. I also have my music, and a single coming out called ‘No Hold Back’. I have an EP coming out as well but it’s currently untitled. The single is out right now and honestly I’m excited about that.”

Besides posting amazing fitness videos, advice and working on his music, we were interested in his experience on the Reality Show Marriage Boot Camp. The show allowed viewers the chance to get to know more about Nikko London & his relationship with Margo.

“The Marriage Boot camp was fun and honestly speaking, it was laidback and I really got a chance to know myself. I experienced a lot on that show but was also able to build a bridge again with me and Margo as friends and get that understanding back because we had been so distant for like four years. The show kind of broke that in half and I kind of rekindled some of the beginnings from which we knew each other from and shared together. I learned also how to trust again, forgive and many other things. I left the show with a big win. I actually learned a lot, it seemed like a funny show but I can honestly say as an adult that you can learn something from it.”

Nikko London’s book is labels him as “Most Hated Reality TV Star” and we wanted to hear in his opinion why he felt that the public hated him so much.

“What’s funny is that I feel like people don’t like anything they don’t know. So do I really think people hate me? Maybe because of the hype of the show. Too much of anything to me would allow the public to have a bad taste in their mouth anyways. When people allow themselves to look at TV and allow TV to become their voice that’s when to me…you’ve ate too much of the cake! These reality shows are meant to entertain, not to confine a use of hatred. I think most people who watch Reality TV, they get the entertainment from it and then it turns into

hatred because you eat too much of it. Too much of anything will allow you to have emotions and feelings about it.”

The biggest issue they Nikko encountered happened behind the release of a tape with another Reality Star, Mimi Faust. The huge drama behind that allowed many viewers to develop their own personal thoughts about London. We wanted to know if Nikko regretted what happened with the whole tape issue on the show.

“Do I regret it? That’s a good question. Well first they have to read the book because that’s in there, but what I got to say on that is that I don’t regret my decision. I regret the way it was played out. As a man who stands as his own leader, I made a decision that I have to live with. For the rest of my life this is something that I have to live with and the way it played out was out of my control and I took the hit for a tape that was supposedly being leaked by Mimi. All along I was thinking that my codefendant which was Mimi had my back! That’s the regret; thinking that I could trust her, but the truth always comes to the surface. She had to confess her wrongs anyway so it’s like why go through all of that and not stick to the plan that we had as being codefendants after knowing what we created and what we talked about.”

“I knew I was going to take the hit as a man because I told you as a woman (Mimi) that you have a daughter so you can’t take the hit. So let me say the tape was in my bag and that way it will take the heat off of you having a daughter. That was the agreement that me and her had and that’s what we went to VH1 with. We were supposed to have stuck to that script but we didn’t. I mean I stuck to the script because I’m the one that got ridiculed. I’m the one who got most hated man in Reality TV!  I’m the one that got all the backlash of leaking the tapes. That’s kind of what I regret. The money was coming for the tape and she shifted with me and things went from a power couple to things being separate. It was supposed to be a together thing but it went separate. The money issue off of the tape is what caused things to go left.”

Since the big confusion hit the television airways and radio stations, London stated that he and Mimi Faust have not spoken since in nearly two years. I believe we all can relate to him with just letting that situation kick rocks!

London shared with us that all of that was just the making of a great book that would tell a story of his life that needed to be shared. Nikko added that the experience with the show made the book easier to write and not as difficult to put together for the public.

“It wasn’t difficult at all, in fact the show made it easier for me to write the book, ‘Sex Entertainment & Lies’. The fabric of my life is definitely in this book! What I don’t have to do is lie anymore. All I had to do was just think back and the way the book is broke down made it easier for me to filter it all out. It took me a while to write the book at first because I had no structure and then Mya Kay came along and helped break it all down. It then made more sense. She put structure into the book and it’s a lot of good stuff in here.”

So what exactly is next for Nikko London?

“It’s pretty simple for me to continue to just grow as a lifestyle brand. I’m not out here trying to push myself on anyone. I just want people to understand my journey and be inspired by it. It’s all in the book and it’s so much that you will be like wow! This book is really Ooohs & Ahhhs. Me & Mya came out with a home run on this book!”

The pre orders for the book will be available in December but the book will be released in April 2017. The date has not been set yet. Readers can definitely get ready to discover more information about Nikko London and hopefully reset the bad images that many gained form watching him on Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta.

I feel the world needs to hear his story so I await the release of this book. I hope to join in on knowing about the life media neglected us of seeing about Nikko London. This is going to be a juicy book for all readers to add to their “To Buy List” for next year!

Fizz Talks About His New Book ‘No Excuses: Being The Father My Son Deserves’

Fizz
Fizz

“I really make my son my priority, so any free time I get aside from whatever he needs is when I put the time into my music” (Fizz)

The greatest gift a father can give to his son is a book about his love for raising him. Fizz is more than just a music performer and definitely more than just a regular guy on a Reality Show. Fizz is a single father trying to do what’s best for his son while building a solid foundation for him to rise up on. To be able to speak with Fizz as he shared some positive aspects behind writing his book was truly inspiring. Fizz shared information that could help a lot of single fathers out there who are trying to be that role model to their sons. This book is truly going to shine some light on the hidden places that real fathers such as Fizz deal with and how they can grow beyond it all, while maintaining a successful career.

Fizz’s new book is titled ‘No Excuses: Being the Father My Son Deserves’. The book is co-written by Fizz and National Best Selling Author Brittani Williams who also wrote ‘Daddy’s Little Girl’ and the ‘Black Diamond Saga’.

Fizz took a moment to share some information pertaining to his book with Kontrol. We recently had an interview and was mesmerized by the beautiful display of pride and love he takes in being a father to his son. He is presenting more than just a book, he is also giving life changing information to his fans!

Fizz New Book 'No Excuses: Being The Father My Son Deserves'

Fizz shared with us some very profound information behind his idea for putting out his book and also highlighted some facts about what led to him to feeling the need to help other single fathers out there.

“It all started first with the show Love & Hip Hop Hollywood showing how I am as a father and from there that’s where I went. People were always complimenting me on my fatherhood and how good of a father they thought I was and how I was able to manage or balance my career and fatherhood at the same time. I felt it was a good platform for me to reach out to the younger fathers. There are up and coming fathers that are not in a relationship anymore and are now single parents. I’m also speaking to anybody in my situation as well. I really wanted to give some advice on how they can better themselves while being a father or just give them the outlook on my story, my struggles, and how I was able to get through it all. How I progressed from it and give vital information to help motivate them.”

So what exactly can readers gain from his book? Well Fizz states, “I would say they could gain some knowledge on fatherhood and how to deal with the pros & cons of it. How to deal with the struggles of balancing an entertainment career or any career. How to function between the two. Most importantly, not to put so much stress on yourself when it comes to progressing in your career. The fact that you are a parent is a constant reminder that you have that responsibility no matter what.”

Fizz makes it clear in a heartfelt tone that single fathers simply have to find that balance while continuing to be a responsible parent and maintaining a successful career. He stressed this has to be done for your sons, daughters, and never to let it all stress you out. For those who follow the artists on Love & Hip Hop Hollywood, Fizz definitely displays a calm, but positive level of balance while raising his handsome son, Kamron. His book truly sounds like something a lot of young fathers should have a copy of on their shelves for inspiration when it debuts.

Since he has taken a conscious direction with his balance between fatherhood and music, we were curious to know if he planned on putting out any more books once this is released. Fizz casually responded, “Well I’m not certain, it depends on how this well this one is received by everyone. If I can be that voice for a certain demographic of people then I’m all for it”.

Fizz has a large fan base and I’m sure that once this book hits the shelves, many will definitely take interest in hearing more from him.

Besides his book we asked if he had any other new projects he was working on for his fans and he responded, “Yes, I’m actually about to release a new music project, a mix tape called ‘Lifestyle’ and you all can expect that really soon. There isn’t a set date, but be on the look out for it.”

For all the lovely ladies who have been following the handsome soon to be 31 year old and wondering if he was on the market, well Fizz went on to inform the fans, “Yea, I’m single, and then he added with a laugh, “I’m a single father!”.

So ladies don’t just come for one single dose of him, be prepared to come and accept him as well as his bundle of joy, which is his son.

Do you all feel that Love & Hip Hop Hollywood had a part in the role he displays as a father?

Well Fizz briefly explained that the show only gave a positive aspect to the father he already was prior to the show.

“I think it made me more cautious as a father. I’m very cautious as to what my son is subject to out here and in the public eye overall. I’m also more cautious on how I present myself with what I do, but it didn’t make me change up or make me become a better father…I’ve always been the father I display myself as.”

What makes his book worth reading is the fact that he never changed up on who he was as a father to his son because of a television show. He remained consistent and that is a definite plus for anyone looking to read a book from the voice of a man who is genuine about who he is.

So, how did Fizz team up with best-selling author Brittani Williams for this awesome book idea? He stated, “We teamed up through management…her management team actually reached out to my people about writing a book and if I had any subjects that I would like to touch on. I thought that touching on fatherhood would be the best for me because of my demographic of fans and everyone who knows me or pays attention to me understands that about me. I felt like it was the right subject to touch on.”

Fizz also added that this is not the final step for him in his career achievements, “I will always feel under accomplished. I feel like I want to accomplish everything in the world, so I’m always pushing to strive for more.

With a new view on life and a positive display of growth, he is definitely no longer ‘LiL Fizz’ from B2K.

“It’s some people who will always refer to me as ‘Lil Fizz‘ because that’s what they know me as, but…It’s just Fizz now because I’ll be 31 soon and I’m far from little ( he laughed)…if anything my son is Lil Fizz and I’m Big Fizz.

Fans are definitely going to be waiting for this book to hit the shelves because we all have had the opportunity to watch him grow through his music as well as take in what he showcased on television. Fizz is the perfect role model to young fathers all over. His love for his son is simply a beautiful display of living art for black fathers alike.

“I really make my son my priority, so any free time I get aside from whatever he needs is when I put the time into my music and it goes as it comes. It’s more of a hobby now for me because my son is my focus, so if I get the time to do the music then great, but my son is my top priority.”

His book is set to be released everywhere books are sold in April 2017 and the pre-order link will be in his bio on his Instagram page @airfizzo really soon.

With the ongoing rumors and drama that surrounds Fizz’s relationship with his son’s mother, Moneice Slaughter, it will be exciting to hear a very genuine, in-depth perspective on fatherhood and the relationship with his son in his own words.

It was really rewarding and good to see the future and what can come from your hard work.”  (Brittani Williams)

Author and graphic designer extraordinaire Brittani Williams has sold several hundred thousand books and is even currently writing books with two of Love & Hip Hop Hollywood reality stars. The talented young writer is doing what many writers dream to do in a lifetime. While managing the recent release of her latest book, “Carl Weber’s Kingpins: Philadelphia”, with the well-known New York Times Best Selling author Carl Weber, she managed to team up with former B2k group member and Love & Hip Hop Hollywood reality star, “Fizz”.

Brittani Williams and Fizz collaborated on his new book soon to be released titled, ‘‘No Excuses: Being the Father My Son Deserves”.

The multi-talented author shared some insight behind the book collaboration with Fizz as well as how she became to be the published author and writer she is today.

Nothing but great expectations are in store for Williams as she shared with us and fans what she is currently working on.

“I’m actually working on a lot of stuff, so there will definitely be more books. I’m even working on a cookbook and I’ve partnered with my publisher, The TMG Firm, to launch my own publishing company called “Trendsetters Publications”. My author LaDonna Robinson and I wrote a book together called “Guilty of Stealing His Heart”. I’m currently looking for more authors to sign and give them an opportunity to release their books. I’m also working on a collaboration with Hazel-E from Love & Hip Hop Hollywood called “Girl Code: Ethics as a Lifestyle”, so be on the look out for those in the top of 2017.

So of course it’s got to be a bit of a challenge when you land the opportunity to collaborate with a well-known artist such as Fizz and Williams enlightened us on the amazing experience.

“I would say it was just a little bit challenging because it was the first time I had ever collaborated with a celebrity. With anything new you have to figure out what works best and once you figure out the formula to get the quality content, then you can go with that. It was really rewarding and good to see the future and what can come from your hard work.” “I would love to collaborate with him again. He has definitely been easy to work with. He is nice and laid back…which is the same way he is on TV.”

For any writer, it’s a huge achievement to network with other authors and celebrities all while pursuing your dreams. Williams stepped back for a minute to share with us what it was like pursuing her dream as a writer and some words she would have given a younger version of herself years ago before the success.

“I would have said to myself to stand firm on what you want to do because as a teen I was always creative, but I wasn’t able to be creative because that was not what my mom wanted. So, when I got out of school it was, “no you can’t do that”…”that’s not a job”…you need to go to school for this. I basically did what she wanted me to do until I became an adult and I could say “I’m not doing that anymore.”

“So, I wish I would have stayed more firm on what I really wanted to do. Even though my writing career started early, I was still published in my early twenties and now I’m 35. I was published, but I started writing when I was like twelve, so I wish I would have been able to deal with that a little bit sooner.”

It’s always tough for those you love to accept dreams outside of their own, but Williams has stuck through the worst of times and she is amazingly doing beyond what many may have ever saw for her.

In a world full of critics, Williams added that you really have to maintain a tough skin not just in life, but even when it comes to writing books. The hardest part about writing for the public eye is often the negative feedback.

“For most people it would likely be being critiqued. That can be tough sometimes like you can get emotional at times and your feelings can be a bit hurt. However, if you choose to be a writer or any kind of entertainer, you have to have tough skin because people will always have something to say. There will always be people that are negative and I love to take those things and use them to make me better.”

Williams has truly become a master of her gift for writing and is not afraid to step in any direction when it comes to doing what she shares a passion for, writing. When it comes to certain genres of the art, she is not picky about bringing those letters to life on paper.

“I don’t really prefer one genre over the other….I mainly write a lot of urban fiction, but that’s because that’s what my publisher wants or what the readers want from me. I’ve written other things, but I love to write period, so it really doesn’t matter.”

When you are into your passion, then everything related to it is nothing but a love experience. We asked if she had the opportunity to turn any of her books into a movie, which one of her top sellers she would pick from. Williams happily responded, “Definitely my book ‘Black Diamond’. I actually turned that into a play back in 2010. I produced a stage play of it, so at that time I also wrote a script for it. That’s always been something I wanted to see on the big screen…that would be amazing if that could happen!”

The saying goes that one should never upset a writer or a singer because you might end up in a song or a book. Williams says, “They never upset me, but I’ve definitely used the likeness of some friends and family…even myself in some of the things I write, but not because anybody made me upset…but if you know me, then you may end up in one.”

When we touched briefly on who was a major inspiration to Williams in her writing career, she calmly stated, “I would definitely say Quan because he has been around for a very long time and his work is consistent. Even when you are talking about his work, he never slacks with his readers…he takes his time. It’s a lot of good qualities about him that have made him successful, so he has always been someone I looked up to.”

Outside of her writing, she manages to keep up a successful career as a Graphic Designer and informed us that it is another talent that she will continue to work on.

“I will definitely continue with my graphics. I’m a graphic designer for a lot of independent authors and many of them are bestselling authors. If you log onto Amazon right now, you’ll see a lot of the book covers I’ve designed on the bestsellers’ list. My ultimate goal is to staff my graphics company, so it’s not solely on me.”

When you think of words like successful, accomplished, talented, and creative; Author Brittani Williams should definitely come to mind. We are excited for the talented author and her book collaboration with Fizz. She is living out her dreams regardless of any negativity and we all should aspire to follow suit!
