Stephen Curry, 30, is stepping into a new playing field which consists of producing films!

Via Variety:

His focus is no longer divided now that his wife, Ayesha, is weeks away from delivering their third child and first son, Canon W. Jack Curry. “I actually thought the baby was going to be here yesterday,” he says, nervously patting the mobile phone inside the pocket of his UnderArmour sweatpants. “It was kind of a false alarm. But I’m on alert right now.”

Fatherhood isn’t the only matter far from the basketball court that’s getting more of Curry’s attention today. The afternoon will take him to offices he keeps in Oakland for another new feature of his postseason: development meetings. He announced in April that he was getting into the entertainment business by way of a wide-ranging dealbetween the production company he had formed, Unanimous Media, and Sony Pictures Entertainment. The All-Star guard sat down with Variety to talk at length about the details of his new venture, including several films already in development — just one part of an ambitious partnership that aims to extend as far as video games, virtual reality and consumer products. But films and TV are the focus of the deal, with concentrations in three core areas: faith, family and sports.

When Curry saw a few years ago what Lebron James and other athletes were starting to do in the entertainment space, he was intrigued. He turned to Jeron Smith, a former Nike brand manager and White House deputy director of digital strategy during the Obama administration, for guidance.

“As we talked about what he wanted to do with his brand and where he wanted to go, he landed on this North Star: Stephen wants to inspire as many people as possible,” says Smith. “There’s no more effective way to touch broad audiences and inspire as many people than with the sharing and dissemination of content globally.”

Michelle Obama Launches Voter Registration Campaign with Tom Hanks, Lin-Manuel Miranda & Janelle Monae

Former First Lady Michelle Obama and some other famous friends will launch a new voter registration nonprofit called When We All Vote.

In addition to the Hamilton creator and the first lady, the co-chairs of the national nonpartisan organization include actor Tom Hanks, country music stars (and spouses) Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, basketball player Chris Paul and singer-songwriter Janelle Monáe.

Through extensive social media and digital outreach, the national organization aims to increase the number of eligible citizens who register to vote and who actually show up to the polls on election day.

The launch video shows Obama and Miranda personally making voter registration calls, reminding the other co-chairs to vote in every election, “school board, state house, all of them,” Obama instructs.

“Voting is the only way to ensure that our values and priorities are represented in the halls of power,” Obama says in a statement in When We All Vote’s press release. “And it’s not enough to just vote for president every four years. We all have to vote in every single election: for mayor, governor, school board, state legislature and Congress. The leaders we elect to these offices help determine just about every aspect of our lives and our democracy. So the future of our families, our communities and our country belongs to those of us who show up, cast our votes, and make our voices heard.”

When We All Vote aims to increase voter registration rates in all 50 states hoping to make waves in a political landscape where registration rates are low. In 2014, more than 1/5th of eligible American citizens were not registered to vote, according to the Pew Charitable Trusts research cited in the press release.

When We All Vote is embracing a three-pronged strategy to achieve its registration and participation oriented goals: volunteer recruitment; improved voter registration processes; and increased conversation across the United States. This approach will involve recruiting on-the-ground people and organizations in all 50 states, and extensive social media and digital outreach. When We All Vote is also partnering with corporate, education and civic institutions to reach voters nationwide, according to the press release.

“Voting is a small act that proves that we are a democracy a government of the people and by the people. It’s up to each and every one of us to make sure our government doesn’t just represent a small some not just the most powerful but all of us. When we all vote, we are making strides toward a more perfect union,” Hanks says in a statement.

Monáe adds in a statement, “It’s gonna be our generation that corrects the mistakes of our past and creates a more inclusive future that works for us all. As voters, we are the ones that hold the power to make this dream a reality.”

But you WILL NOT stop me from saving lives and giving hope to those who are where I was. I AM A VOICE FOR THE VOICELESS! Reps for the R&B singer have denied any accusations, including those made by Andrea, previously telling PEOPLE in a statement that he “has close friendships with a number of women who are strong, independent, happy, well cared for and free to come and go as they please.”

“We deny the many dark descriptions put forth by instigators and liars who have their own agenda for seeking profit and fame,” a rep said. “All of the women targeted by the current media onslaught are legal adults of sound mind and body, with their own free will. Law enforcement officials in Atlanta and Chicago previously have made ‘wellness’ visits to check on the women in question and have found everything to be safe and sound.”

We’re told the offers have been in the $100k neighborhood or higher. Cardi and Offset have no desire to make a deal … yet. We’re told they won’t even consider it until their daughter’s at least 5 or 6 months old. Our sources say Cardi just wants to focus on being a mom and bonding with her baby. So, Kulture’s gonna be on the low, for now, but we also know she’s already living the high life.”

‘Rugrats’ Set for Series Reboot on Nickelodeon & Live-Action Movie

OMG! One of our favorite 90s cartoon shows ‘Rugrats’ is returning to Nickelodeon!

The 26-episode series has been ordered by the network as well as a live-action movie with CGI characters.

Both the TV reboot and the movie will include all-new adventures with characters Tommy, Chuckie, Phil, Lil, Susie and Angelica, and will also introduce a new world of characters.

via Variety:

The show’s original creators Arlene Klasky, Gábor Csupó and Paul Germain will return to the TV series as executive producers. Nickelodeon’s “Rugrats” will be produced in Burbank, Calif., with production already underway. Additional news of the TV series, airdate and casting will be announced in the coming months.

“Rugrats is hands-down one of the most celebrated cartoons in TV history, and we are thrilled for a whole new audience to meet these iconic characters in brand-new adventures,” said Sarah Levy, COO of Viacom Media Networks and interim president of Nickelodeon. “What was true in 1991 when the original show premiered is still true today: kids are fascinated with the world of babies. We can’t wait for today’s kids to meet Tommy, Chuckie and pals.”

The “Rugrats” movie will be written by David Goodman and is set to be released on Nov. 13, 2020 by Paramount Players, the division of Paramount Pictures that develops and produces co-branded feature films with Viacom’s leading media networks.

“Now feels like the ideal time to reintroduce this iconic cast of characters to a whole new generation of young fans,” said Brian Robbins, president of Paramount Players. “Kids who grew up with Tommy Pickles and the “Rugrats” crew will now be able to share that experience with their own children.”

“Rugrats” joins the recently announced return of “Blue’s Clues” as the latest classic original series Nickelodeon is bringing back for today’s generation of kids and families. Nickelodeon produced and aired an all-new “Hey Arnold!” special in 2017, and has announced the return of two more beloved titles as forthcoming specials: “Rocko’s Modern Life” and “Invader Zim.”

Black Panther’s Shuri Is Getting Her Own Comic Book Series

Marvel Comics is just months away from releasing a new standalone comic book series about Shuri and all her genius.

The brand new series will be available in October 2018 and will focus on Shuri’s journey in the face of a tragic event: Black Panther is lost in a mission in space, leaving Wakandans asking questions about who should lead in his absence. As his little sister, and the next in line for the throne, Shuri is pulled from her happy place (her lab full of impossibly genius, high-tech gadgets) and into a much heftier role. According to the official Marvel synopsis, “Shuri is happiest in a lab, surrounded by gadgets of her own creation. She’d rather be testing gauntlets than throwing them. But a nation without a leader is a vulnerable one — and Shuri may have to choose between Wakanda’s welfare and her own.”

This compelling battle within the self and the impossible question of duty over passion will come to life in the new series thanks to Eisner-nominated artist Leonardo Romero and Afrofuturist author Nnedi Okorafor. Okorafor is an award-winning Nigerian-American writer, known for her work across the sci-fi genre, from young adult fiction to short stories and adult fiction. One of her most acclaimed works, a novel titled Who Fears Death, not only saw multiple award nominations and a World Fantasy Award for Best Novel, but it’s also on its way to becoming an HBO series with George R.R. Martin as an executive producer. And, as if there was any doubt about her writing pedigree, Okorafor has already contributed to the Black Panther storyline with her issues of Black Panther: Long Live The King, which followed a storyline penned by acclaimed journalist and author Ta-Nehisi Coates, and her continuing work on the Wakanda Forever series, which follows the Dora Milaje (Wakanda’s badass warrior ladies, for those that need a refresher) as they team up with other heroes from the Marvel Universe. And as she sets to work on the Shuri series, Okorafor is, in a word, thrilled.

“[Shuri is] an African young woman of genius level intelligence who is obsessed with technology and has traveled spiritually so far into the past that she’s seen Wakanda before it was Wakanda. The Ancestors call her Ancient Future. And she’s super ambitious. What do I love about her? Alllll that and more,” Okorafor tells Bustle via email. “She’s a character in the Marvel Universe who really sings to me.

Maybe we can expect a film in the future from Marvel!

Tiffany Haddish’s Ex-Husband Sues Over Abuse Allegations

Tiffany Haddish’s Ex-Husband Sues Over Abuse Allegations, Claims He Only Choked Her During Sex

William Stewart is suing Tiffany as well as Simon & Schuster, the publisher of her meimoir, over the chapter alleging that he abused and stalked her during their marriage.

Tiffany never mentioned William by name in the book, but the former couple married and divorced twice.

via Page Six:

Stewart claimed in his suit that he sent Haddish, 38, and Simon & Schuster multiple letters to resolve the “harmful and defamatory” assertions in the chapter, “The Ex-Husband,” before filing the suit. He claims that Haddish replied “be patient your blessings are coming” and “start to think positive so positive things can come your way. Because your blessings are waiting on you.”

He also claimed in his suit that the restraining order she received during their marriage was dropped after she “recanted the allegations” and “pled with law enforcement to dismiss the TRO because it was untrue. In fact, she confessed to attacking Mr. Stewart.”

He also said that she told Dom Irrera in a 2012 interview that Stewart never beat her, but he “just choked [her] a little bit.” Stewart claimed that he can prove that she “regularly requested Mr. Stewart to become more aggressive with her during sex, including, among other things, to choke her as a part of their sexual intercourse.”

Stewart is seeking over $1 million for defamation, libel, and slander.
